I personally prefer a firm cushion when it comes to seating. However, U-shaped dinettes are hard for old folks like me to use. Kids, on the other hand, can slide around pretty easily. U-shaped dinettes do have an advantage in that you can remove the table and have a pretty comfortable sofa/pit.

I was excited about this unit until I sat on the dinette seat. I was bummed out. I see your point about the kids easily sliding around. Thanks !

We have a freedom express310BH DS. This large U shaped dinnette is one of the main reasons we purchased this unit. I think its better to have the firm cushions for durability reasons. These dinnettes will see lots of traffic., if you know what I mean.

If you're unhappy with the foam in them- replacing it is pretty easy. I work from my camper and often sit at the dinette for 8-10 hours a day. The old cushions just gave up quickly. I bought replacement foam and couldn't be happier:

My only recommendation is that you replace both the seat bottoms AND the seat backs if you ever want to use it as a bed. My cousins weren't enthusiastic about the differing heights of the "bed".
