Front Landing Gear Holes Not Lining Up!

Hey Gang. I took our 2018 Chaparral 336tsik in for some warrant work. We only used her once. One of the repairs was the pin on the front landing gear being bent. A month later a pick it up and had a heck of a time releasing the pin. Got her home and had to fight to get the pin back in breaking the spring.

Here’s my problem. The holes inner/outer don’t appear to be lined up. Is there an adjustment that I can do? Or is she going back to the dealer which is a 90 minute drive. Suggestions are welcome and thank you.

If you have to take it back up to them, make sure they will do it while you wait!

And maybe get a free lunch out of them...

I have the big brother Shasta to your Chaparral. On the landing gear the locking pins are held in place by 2 bolts and nuts. Just loosen then and realign them with the holes in the outer leg tube.

I attempted that. Even went as far as putting the pin only in after the assembly came apart. I can actually look through and see the inner and outer holes not lining up. I had to use a rubber mallet to get it through. Not sure if there’s an adjustment or if the landing gear needs repaired or replaced. Thank You.

Yep. I think that’s what I’ll need to do.

Yep, if adjusting the two bolts doesn't line things up your only other recourse would be to enlarge the holes slightly with a drill bit. On a brand new unit, I'd be taking it back.

Be sure to test it BEFORE you leave the lot. Since it was ALREADY there to have that issue looked at, who knows the outcome the 2nd time.

I don’t think enlarging the holes is the direction I want to go. You are absolutely correct, it needs to go back.

Thank you

This is just a wild guess( mine are hydraulic), but try taking the lower part out and turning it 180 degrees. The holes may not be perfectly centered and if they had it apart to fix it once, may have been put in backward. Just a guess but may save you a trip back,

I like your wild guess!! One would think that shouldn’t matter, but I think it’s worth a shot. I won’t get to it until Sunday. I’ll let you know. Thanks.
