Hate the shower curtain rail, options?

My new Apex Ultra Lite 289TBSS has an aluminum rail that is like a mini I beam that the shower curtain rides on. While taking a shower your constantly running against that curtain in the narrow shower. Is there an aftermarket bowed rail that would create the illusion of a larger shower stall? I'm guessing that I could remove this rail, fill the screw holes with some white or clear RTV and mount up a new outwardly curved rail and gain much needed inches of elbow room. I'm not even a large human at 5'8" and 185#, I can't imagine how tight this feels to some of the monster sized humans we all see!Click image for larger version

A extend a shower might work for your situation.

Stromberg Carlson EXT-3542 Extend-A-Shower-White https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0031XXW4O..._yhvvDbZY7M238

It extends out while you shower. It retracts in when you're not. I was very happy with it in my TT. This way, it wont permentntly hang over your sink.

How does it transition from the inward position to the outward? Like, what do you do to move it?

my grey wolf 24js has the same style I beam but it is curved, so that might be an option also.

I just did this. I unscrewed the center I-beam curtain rod support and pulled the I-beam out about 6 inches along the ceiling, Then I screwed the I-beam support bracket in the new location. It flexes nicely and the end brackets hold on to it. Made a world of difference using the shower and didn't cost anything.

I find if you shower side way, your shoulders dont brush the curtain as much. I don't shower in it often but when we do, we stand sideways. Curved rod would be a good idea!

Tell us about your mod, where did you source that bowed aluminum rail?

What steps did you take?

What is the approximate total cost to reproduce this mod?

Where did you source any hardware?

Larry,

I have a Rockwood minilite. The shower curtain rail came with the TT. It is a small I-beam aluminum rail that holds the sliding hooks that the shower curtain hangs on. It is held to the ceiling by 3 brackets. I just loosened and removed the center bracket and pulled it out in the center creating the arc. The aluminum is soft enough to bend without creasing it, and I pulled it out carefully to make a reasonable bow. Then screwed the bracket to the ceiling in the new position. The two end brackets hold tight. $0 cost. I’m not sure if all shower curtain brackets are the same.

Lol. Totally dependant on specs like a WDH and proper set up
Are you overweight on the front?
Whats your tongue length?
Maybe your overweight on the rear?
How bout that rear bumper?
And whats your inflation pressures?
And in my situation whats your overall height? For that low bridge..err..shower curtain
Lol

That's the money shot right there as far as quick and cheap enhancements go for the shower. This morning I did as you described and then too a shower in the camper. It's not perfect, but I didn't have a cold wet shower curtain stuck to my arms, back and butt the entire time. Flexing it out about 2 or 3 inches made a noticable change in working space.Click image for larger version

You can get tri-slide glass doors and put them up. The tri gives a wider opening than standard two slide doors. They can be custom made to fit your opening. I ordered them for about $300, so it's not a cheap fix, but really dresses it up and keeps the water where you want it. Worth it on a new trailer, not sure a used buyer would see the benefit unless they'd dealt with shower curtains and rails before. Sorry I don't remember where, but it would probably be HD or Lowes special order.

$300 is.... Negligible! That is 1% of the unit cost. I just spent $1000 on 2 Fan-Tastic fans and 2 of the vent cover things in black. What's $300 between friends!

My shower curtain track came bowed outward. Not enough. The Extend-A-Shower works great. It's even better when not showering. No longer rubbing my right shoulder on the curtain when sitting on the toilet when the rod is pushed into the shower. About $30 on Amazon.
