Lamp replacement

Gonna sound strange: I'm looking for LOW output LED lamps to replace the lamps above the bed in our Clipper 17FQ.

When lying in bed, the lights are right in your eyes, and we noticed this summer exactly how much heat they put off.

I'm a TV guy, so I like the light to be daylight, but my wife wants it to look a bit softer and warmer. So, I'm looking for semi-dark "soft white" LED lamp to replace them with. Basically, we want just enough light so that my wife can read.

Any thoughts? I've considered glazing the insides of the fixtures to soften the light a bit, but we would prefer to get lamps that will do the trick.

You should be able to get what you want with LEDs. Check out the Lumens, which is the amount of light the LED puts out, and the color or temperature. Just get LEDs with less Lumens than your current LEDs or bulbs. The color is a little more tricky. Good LED suppliers will list the color temperature in Kelvin, this will allow you to do a good comparison. Suppliers that just state white, cool white or warm white are not letting you compare easily. Some are too blue, while others are too yellow when compared to what we humans are used to with incandescent bulbs.

I change our bedroom reading lights from 921 incandescent bulbs, that were way too bright, and directed right into you eyes, to LEDs that were perfect. Less light and a softer color. I got them on ebay. Good luck.

depending on your bulb and socket type, you could go with something like this:

We went with the pancake style over the bed and they are not as bright as the incandescent bulbs. They offer enough light to read by, but are not as harsh. I have thought about going to something dimmable.

I never thought of low light leds, have been looking for smoked out lens covers. Now I have to rethink this as well as everything else

again - it depends on what style bulb yours takes. For my camper, yes they are direct fit.
