Moisture under mattress

We have a 2017 Coachman Chappell model 336TSIK. In November camping at Myrtle Beach we experienced a problem where we started smelling a odor something like chemical smell.. Looked everywhere so a couple of days later we went to turn the mattress over and we discovered moisture under the mattress. The plywood was wet and the mattress was wet from condensation.
Our slide out for the bedroom goes out the side of the trailer so in cold weather we can feel that the plywood is cold. We had to purchase a new mattress because of this problem. We are wondering if anybody else has had this problem with this model.Thanks.

This is a common problem when the mattress is over a cool/cold area. The moisture from your body goes through the mattress and condenses when it hits the cold platform. One solution is to add a sheet of 1/2 building foam board under the mattress. The kind with foil on one side works very well with foil up.

Thank you FLYBOB for your comment. When we purchased our new mattress they sold us a PLASTIC COIL BARRIER that fits under the mattress so air can move under the mattress. We hope this helps thank you.
