Permanently Parking Unit

I am thinking about permanently leaving our new 2017 Chaparral 392MBL at our lake lot 3 hours north of our home and was wondering what are the disadvantages I need to take into consideration before doing this? It is used from end May...ish to end September then stored for the rest of the winter at our lot located in Alberta Canada near Edmonton.

I've just added a 50 amp service post and a 4 inch RV dump at the trailer so that has been taken care of but is there anything else I should be thinking about before I leave it for the winter?

Any suggestions on what I should do to make leaving it better???

Cheers!!!

I don't seasonal park mine, but I would think a cover would be the number one thing. Permanent would be by far the best...possible? Then I would. You could pay for it with the cost of towing vs parking and the roof maintenance would be a great improvement.

Cover the tires if you haven't already.

Permanently Parking Unit

Thanks for the replies.....I'm not necessarily worried so much about the money as I am about making sure I've covered all the bases for a permanent unit if that what we decide to do.

I've got the tires covered, added an RV park style 50 amp power post and a buried 4 inch waste dump with a clean out going to our main 4000 gallon waste tank.

I am in the process of trying to decide between a winter tarp or a permanent snow rated A frame tin roof over top of the unit. What are the cons of a tarp knowing I would basically not be checking it for 7-8 months?

Should I jack it up or leave it on the tires/suspension?

Anything I need to do with the RV black tank now that it won't be moving/agitating?

Any tips on keeping spider webs off and stopping possible sun fading?

Anything else I've not even thought about????

If you can afford the A frame cover that's what I'd do. Although RV covers are nice, heavy winds can shred them and since you can't check on the unit for so long it seems like a better option in my opinion. As for the black tank maintenance don't leave the valve open so it's constantly draining. If you do the solids will build up and you'll have a mess. Use lots of water and when you leave drain it and use your black flush to rinse it well. I'd suggest getting a clear elbow for your drain pipe so you can run the flush until the water is clear. I'd also leave some water in the tank along with your favorite tank chemical. For winter storage pump the lines with RV antifreeze and pour some in the p-traps and into each holding tank.

X2 on the A-frame cover. My RV covers have only lasted 3 yrs.

Leave the tires on the ground and put cinder blocks under the frame at the corners and also in front of and behind your tires on each side. Then use some wood shims to tighten it up.
