It can be opened and closed at will (same as the one by the queen bed). The lever pushes almost all the way out and latches open. It isn't variable like the crank windows.

In an emergency you push the bar really hard THROUGH the opening and pull the screen out (red tabs). The window is then only hinged at the top and you can get out.

Figured it would be better to ask a stupid question here rather than have any issues.

Yep... Open them all the time.

Soon to be new Apex owner

Hello all. I have been reading your posts for some time now. I had ordered my 2016 Apex 259BHS back in Early April and it finally came in last week. Went to pick it up last weekend and found several things that were not right. Some more severe than others. One was a hump on the rear exterior wall and the other was one awning rail that was not even screwed in. The wall problem was most concerning and would require the wall to be removed to repair. More than likely they were screws that were not fully seated before the wall was hung. I was extremely disappointed, but still like the layout and features a lot. So, got a call this week, that they have another one on the lot (Duplicate) and it has non of the problems I saw. So get to drive 1 1/2 hours again to go try this again. The take away is to really spend the time to go through and look at everything prior to your PDI, that way you can point anything out to the tech doing the PDI. If you do it during your PDI, you will be trying to pay attention to them and won't be able to focus on inspecting the unit. Just my two cents. I am really looking forward to bringing my new baby home.

Good deal HappyTimes. Welcome!

Good thing you did a thorough PDI! Mine was rushed and I was a newbie so I didn't force it. Having to do it over again I would have slowed him down and gone over EVERY inch. That being said we've been very blessed with a quality unit (sans an immediate refrigerator replacement after our first trip).

I had an hour to look over it while they tore into my trade and then two hours into my PDI the tech was getting a little agitated. I armed myself with the knowledge I gained on this site and it was extremely helpful... One funny thing was the exterior vent for the stove exhaust. I asked him to show me how it opened. After an eye roll, he proceeded to try and open it and could not. Took two techs to get it open.. LOL that was one of the things I learned on here

Congrats on your new camper. I'm sure you'll have many many nights of fun in your Apex.

On another note... I don't think these RV dealers have figured out that with this thing called "the Internet," consumers are much more knowledgable than we were even a few years ago. Well done on performing a thorough PDI.

Congrats happy times! Be ready for all the attention the apex brings!

Looks great! The site looks like it has some privacy, always a priority for me when possible. Enjoy!

Looks good.

Did you wrap your battery wires yourself, or did it come that way?

Also... Anyone install a battery disconnect switch?

I have it purchased and plan to install it this week when we get back home. I just can't decide exactly where to put it...

Crappy signal here so I can't search well...what are you guys doing for ventilation on the bottom bunk? Fine on top with the vent. I know there's the ladder back that can go but any forced air solutions?

My son loves the bottom bunk... So we currently have no plans to mod that area.

I'm noodling an idea. Cut a square hole behind the ladder and make it a sliding panel. When it's open rig a fan to attach blowing into the bunk using the plug just to the right...
Need to figure how to make the panel slide and how to attack the fan so it's removable.

Also wanted to mention to watch the current draw... Today had on AC, water heater and fridge. Proved to be too much. Had to switch water heater to gas and it was all good.
