Power tongue jack question

I have installed a power tongue jack and have not had a issue until yesterday. I came home and someone had turned the light light switch on. Our trailer is sitting in our driveway and has never had anyone messing with our stuff. Does anyone have a remote switch somewhere killing power to their jack when not in use?

You could hide a switch or do a full battery disconnect switch. No shore power while in driveway I take ?

No I have shore power, so I'm not concerned about the light on. I am concerned about them playing with the jack up/down function.

I have a battery disconnect switch that camp with my camper and is hid in the nose of the camper and disables the tongue jack. Later RJD

Does your jack have an in-line fuse? If so, you could pull it out and problem solved. No power to jack until you want it.

I've found a battery disconnect the way to go.

You can buy covers for the upper end of the jack. that could deter people playing with it.

I would suggest getting a cover anyway to keep moisture from rain off the head of the jack.

Install battery disconnect any way.

Get an out door camera that hunters strap to trees and put in place that is not noticed, pointing at your RV and 'see' who is messing with your RV.

I have a Power Jack Cover, it help protect the Jack's motor housing, plus if the buttons are out of sight, they can't play with them. The cover is only $10.00 - $15.00 at most RV Dealers. You can still operate the jack with the cover on, because you know where the buttons are.

Sounds like kids playing around to me, out of sight, out of mind. Here comes the hill billy in me...I place a 5 gal bucket over it, then clip the safety chains to the bucket handle. Protects/hides the motor head and switches, provides a handy place to store the chains and also keeps the bucket in place. Bucket goes into the back of the truck with the tongue lock and blocks in it when we pull trailer out. Bonus, I always have a bucket with me if needed...

I decided to protect from little fingers and the weather, to install a cover and a switch!

Call me cheap but I used the bag that came with my tt cover I bought. Works great and is water proof and besides that what else can you do with a bag that you will never get the tt cover back in it.

Most/All upper end properly installed jacks have a "Inline Fuse" in the Positive cable going to Battery! They are incased in a weather proof case of High Quality! Like said above,"Remove the Fuse" very few "Jerks/Kids" will have a Fuse with them,Hell very few owners have a Spare Fuse!

It does have a fuse, but it is not an in-line fuse. It is located under the plastic cover, not too convenient to pull each time. Adding a keyed switch to the battery box to disconnect power will work the best for me. And adding the cover will keep the switches out of sight and out of the weather.

I received the switch, but before ordering it, I never removed the battery box cover to see if there was enough room to install it. Well, there was no room!

I decided to remove the jack cover and install the switch right in the cover. I like it better than if I had installed it in the battery box. I also added a cover.

I do not want to sound insulting or saying anything out of line, but..... I think that you may have missed one of the points of having a power shut off switch. That is to shut off the power and have the switch out of sight where no one can readily see/find it. Being on the Jack head puts it out there where every one can see it and 'wonder' what it is and 'how can I mess with it'...

Not insulting at all. The switch is keyed, so they can not mess with it even if they wanted to. I put the cover on to keep the motor head out of the weather and to keep the buttons out of site.
