Replacement antenna on Freedom Express 246RKS
Does anyone know if there is a replacement antenna that can be used on the Freedom Express 246RKS?

Not familiar with that type but I'm sure someone is. Does it rotate or is it fixed.
My rotating Winegard Bat wing with the Wingman add-on, does a great job.
I hear good things about the King Jack antenna.

It does not rotate and is simply fixed. Any help identifying a easy on replacement would be appreciated. I really don't want to change the mount or have to drill through the roof.

Unless someone had the same unknown brand/model of yours and replaced it, don't know if anyone could recommend an easy on replacement.

Our factory antenna has never been reliable, after about two years of fooling with it, I just abandoned it and replaced it with what the pics show, ... mounted it on a 24' painters pole from Lowe's and run the cable into the trailer thru the propane hatch on the front side, ... and use antenna point app to know what direction to point the antenna, ... the difference is amazing, from such an inexpensive setup, ...

We have the same one and it is virtually useless. I considered replacing it with a Jack ( has a good reputation), but the jack needs a fairly large hole for the rotating mechanism. The one you have has a small hole for only the coax. There is no replacement head that works well. I now use same system as post above. 3rd party amplified antenna on a painters pole.

From the looks of your picture, It appears the cable goes down through the center of the base and into the RV there?
If so, the antenna that came on my camper may work for you.

Decent reviews for an omni-directional antenna. I have gotten good range out of it picking up a couple Dayton Ohio stations that Antennaweb.org says are 42-44 miles from me solid, no cutting in or out. If you are going to be happy with that range or less if there are obstructions, the above should work for you. If you want the best range you can get, It's hard to beat the crank up and point Wineguard with a batwing add on. I've had one and it would do 50-55 miles easily and up to 65 miles in optimal conditions (high on a hill with good unobstructed view of the antenna direction.

Those omnidirectional antennas are as useless as OP's antenna when you get in country where forests and other obstacles block the signal. My TT is 47 miles from the nearest transmitter and have the crank-up directional winegard with the add-on. I still have a few problems because of the hills and trees in the surrounding area. At home I have a non-amplified antenna smaller than the winegard on top of a 30 foot tower and pick up signals from 100 miles away.

For those of you using a painters pole, I looked at them at Home Depot and they appear to be to weak to successful stand up with an antenna on them. Can you share any pictures of them you might have and where you got your pole?

That's strange because I have the same antenna on my Salem and I can pull OTA stations 50 miles away. Works great for the radio, too!

For those that use the painters poles, can you tell me how you mounted the antenna at the top and also whether you brace the pole somehow? If you attach it to the trailer, how do you do that. I don't have a ladder so I am thinking about using a u-bracket and attaching that to the trailer. Thanks for all the replies.

in post 9, the 4th pic down shows how I mount mine to the ladder support bars, ... a spring clip on both the top and bottom support bars, ... snaps into the clips and works great, ... if you wanted to, I guess you could mount them against the trailer back wall?
