Slide maintenance

My wife and I have a Coachmen Catalina Legacy 263rls.
What maintenance is needed to assure that slide continues to work properly. Do you grease the slide, oil or other. This is a new unit bought last year. We are taking a extended trip this summer.
Thanks

Use a dry lube. WD-40 does make a dry lube (specialist brand) and thats what i use but it's not the regular stuff. You don't want to spray a lube on the mechanism that would attract dirt and debris.

Use a good rubber lube on the seals.
I use 303 protectant.

On the Slide...

Yeah, I waste money. Ounce of prevention... Every time we take the rig out, I lube the steps, slide rails and gears and stabilizers with WD40. On the seals for the slide outside, I use Camco Slide seal lube. Inside seal twice a season. Yeah, it might be too much, but lube is cheap compared to repairs or replacements.

There is a lubricant made specifically for slideouts. I've seen it at my local Walmart. It comes in a spray can.

I never use regular WD-40 for slides. There are specific slide lubes for RV's. There are a bunch on Amazon with reviews.

This is also a good time to determine what kind of slide mechanism you have and how to manually retract it should it fail when you're ready to break camp. There are lots of YouTube videos that cover the different types of slides. For my particular slide, I need a couple of precut 2x4s to "lock" my slide in place once it's been manually retracted. That's not something I want to have to deal with while boondocking in the middle of nowhere.
