Smell throughout RV when emptying black water tank

Every time I empty the RV tank it smells through the whole RV is there something wrong that anybody had experience with? I don't have a problem when I flush it only when I empty the tank.

I am having the exact same issue, except it also happens when I flush. I replaced the stock vent cover with a cyclone vent cover. I haven't used the camper yet since i installed it but will be using it for 5 days later next week. I hope someone posts a reason for it, it makes it extremely hard to be in the camper when this happens.

I had the same issue on my 2014 Wildwood. also had one of those cyclone's on it. I was able to mostly fix the smell by completely cleaning out the black tank i had one of those sticks that you put in the toilet connected to a hose and completely power washed the inside of the tank out. That seemed to help quite a bit. I think i let the tank get too full and some of the paper got stuck up into the air vent pipe. At least this is my thinking. I had even flushed water down the air vent but that did not seem to help.

Try closing the roof vent to the bathroom before you dump the tank. for some reason fumes get pulled back into the washroom if its opened.
I always close mine and have found a difference - not sure why. I also added cyclones to the vent stacks which helped with the stench after stopping for the night when hauling.

I ended up putting 5 gallons of water and softener mix in mine with some pine-sol. Drove 8 hours to camp and than used the black tank flush and flushed the hell out of it. Now whenever i get done camping I make sure to flush until absolutely nothing comes out but clear water. I don't think the black tank flush does that great of a job without having to fill and empty the tank 4 to 5 times. Does anyone have a better solution to flushing the black tank without taking forever to do it? Before I get flames I only do this at a site with full hookups not at a dump station.
