Tank back up

So, I'm ready to park my Chaparral 371mbrb in a parking lot with a steal me sign on it. Last night my pipes froze. This morning, 7am, I left them as they were and went to work. 6pm I return to my bathroom sink running, black tank AND gray tank in the main bath overflowing and water seeping out everywhere. I live in this fiver with my 3 kids on a permanent lot full time. How in the actual hell does this even happen? No one was home. I turned the water off after trying, rather unsuccessfully, to brush my teeth. And how does the gray shower tank back up when there is no water running to it? I'm so overwhelmed. Sorry for the rant. I'm just done. Oh, and the storage compartment had started freezing by time I emptied it. I hate winter. Click image for larger version

So sorry.
You might have answered your own question.
"And how does the gray shower tank back up when there is no water running to it?"
"6pm I return to my bathroom sink running" Sounds like the fresh water pump might have been running.

Was the water supply to your 5er turned off? That may have been where the freeze up occurred and not in your camper, once the line thawed and the water started flowing ~ there had to be an open faucet somewhere.

So sorry to hear about the misfortune and feel for you & the family.

the sink drained into the same tank as the shower. As stated, a faucet wasn't turned all the way off and ran all day once the pipes thawed thus filling your tank. It sure does suck though. Sorry.

It is a bad idea to EVER go away from the coach with the water pressurized, even in ideal conditions because water systems CAN fail. Nough said. Sounds like with proper insurance coverage it might be a huge claim, or a total loss. Otherwise, about all you can do is dry it out, keep it heated 24/7 to dry it to the core and hope there is no serious mold issue or structural damage AND LEARN FROM YOUR ERROR.
