Trailer identification by numbers and letters
I am trying to better understand the way trailers are identified by their numbers and names and am hoping for some help. I get that they both the letters and numbers mean something like bh is bunk house, but wondered what others are. We have a 192sd trailer and I have no idea what the ad stands for. Help!

I think the naming convention differs by manufacturer.
I can speak to the Rockwood Roo Hybrids a bit as they are pretty simple.
A roo 233 = 23' with 3 bunk flip outs.
A roo 23ss = 23' Super slide ( a whole wall slides out)
A roo 23ikss = 23' island Kitchen Super slide.
RV's tend to work like that.
Pop ups are a whole different matter than do not seem to make much sense. lol.

the number is not the trailer's actual length.
it may be the box length but you can generally add 2' to 3' to that, to get the actual length.
there is no standard to model numbers. some have 4 numbers.

Our 354TS is actually 39 feet long, so I would count on the numbers meaning anything. Generally the letters do, though they can be cryptic. TS on ours I think means Triple Slide.
Now our old Jayco 2850 was exactly 28.5 feet long. Doesn't work like that much anymore, if at all.

We have Flagstaff 2829RKWS and have no idea what the 2829 means but the RK is rear kitchen and the WS is wardrobe slide.

My 272BHS is a bunk house model but actually 29' 3" long.

Hey OldCoot. since you been camping from 1960 you must have gone thru several TTs. Question: how long do you normally keep a TT before replacing it?

Well, since I retired in 2006, we're in our 4th. This 2012 will be our last unless we crash it. We've a total of 7 trailers, 2 slide ins for El Caminos and 2 or 3tents, not including sleeping under the tonneau covers in the El Caminos.

I have no idea what my letters mean or the number either for that matter.. Our TH is 41' long..

So when a CG asks for your length, what do you give them? Box length or overall length?

Campgrounds are only interested in overall length to make sure your camper will fit in the site.

Thanks! So next question: When Joe Blow asks "what size" your camper is, what figure do you use? Box length or overall?

I have a Sabre 36QBOK-7. QBOK = quad bunks, outdoor kitchen. There is also a TBOK which is triple bunk, outdoor kitchen.
No idea what the 36 or the -7 mean since it's 42' long.

The 7 is for 7000 pound axles
Not sure about the 36....
