Water Pump

Hey guys,

I recently noticed that the carpet in the storage compartment of my 2016 Chaparral 371mbrb was wet. Upon further investigation I found water dripping from the bottom corner of my water pump. YouTube gave me about eleventybillion and 5 videos on pressure issues, water backing up into the tanks etc. The only issue I'm having is it's dripping inside my storage compartment. Any ideas on what caused it and how I can go about resolving said problem without calling the mobile repair man? As it is I'm going to pull the carpet out from around it, bleach everything that got damp and shove a carpet fan or 2 inside with the doors open until everything is dry. Any insight is much appreciated. Thanks guys

I would go on Amazon and order a repair kit and replace the gasket and save the other parts for when the pump fails.

Hard for us to say for sure, it could be several things.
Could be the pump bolts are loose and allowing a drip.
Could be an improperly placed housing seal.
Could be there was water left in the pump and it froze and cracked.
Could be leaking from one of the line attaching points and dripping off the pump.

And so on...

I would order a new pump of equal quality or better and replace it. Then repair the old pump and keep it for a spare.

Tighten the bolts and see if the leak stops. If it does then problem solved and money saved. If not, determine if leak is from pump or elsewhere and go from there...

Also, check your hoses coming into and out of the pump. Those can leak also. I know the hose coming out of my pump started leaking at the fitting. It was mind boggling as I tightened the hose at the pump and then right before my eyes I could see the other end of the hose start leaking. I replaced the hose with a steal braided hose. Somehow in changing that out, I managed to mess up the plastic threads where the hoses connects into the city water inlet. I had to replace that fitting. I used brass fittings rather than the plastic. Bottom line, my leak had nothing to do with the pump, even though that is where it started. It was the hose.
