Your 5th wheel or TT older than Dirt

I see lots of pictures of 5th Wheels and TT that are a couple of
years old, lets here it from the owners of older 5'ers and TT that
are 5, 6 or older

Here is my 2006 Chappy a few years back at the dealer, yep we
bought used, let the 1st owner work the bugs out

Looks like its in great shape!

My TT is five years old and starting to look a little dull so it's going to either get waxed or have the perma plate protector reapplied.

ID:	93401just bought my 2012 Catalina. Just can't justify the price of New. I sold my 08 Jayco 2 months ago. Only reason was I needed a bigger unit. There was nothing wrong with it. Take care of them and they last

We wax our trailer twice a year, in the spring and then in the fall.
Didn't get much use out of her this year do to illness and knee
surgery but we are looking forward to this next year

Wash, Wax and Caulking on the roof. Stop water leaks at all costs. We had a 06 Rockwood 8318SS and we didn't do good maintenance. Paid the price but had a blast. After last year it was showing its age.

We have a 2010 Rockwood Mini Lite that we are going to sell.
Going to buy a little bit larger TT unit but maybe older, depending on the unit and the price. Want to renovate the inside without
worrying about the sales value. Want to make it more comfortable for us to
travel and live in for a couple of months.

2007 model year Rockwood 8315SS

Here is our 2007 Rockwood 8315SS picture taken at Fort Wilkins State Park at Copper Harbor Michigan.

The picture was taken on 9/21/2015 exactly 9 years to the day of when we bought the trailer in 2006.

Would not trade this unit for anything we have seen. Many mods, it has held up really well. It is kept under a carport in the worst winter months. Probably has been towed close to 50,000 miles.

I suspect that our fifth wheel may be the oldest on this forum - 1999 Cardinal, 35 footer. We bought it used a couple of years ago to live in full time and it has worked out very well for us. We have just had a terrible windstorm - nothing like others have had due to Patricia, but lots of strong winds and rain just the same. That caused some leaks around the front running lights (which run inside into the bedroom closet) and also around the rear picture window. As we are seniors, we now have to find someone to do some caulking for us again but need to have this rain let up a bit so we can get it done. Still not leaking over the bed, so life is good!

Maintenance is a must! Have a great day all of you.

I bought this 08 this past spring. Due to having an amputation I haven't been able to get it on the road yet. Hope to get to SC for a couple of weeks before the end of the year.

It is a 2008 Rockwood Signature ultra lite. A 8280ss model it only has one slide and is 32 feet long. Plenty for my dog and I. It will sleep 6 if need be. My dealer had it on consignment and I got a very good deal on it according to my insurance company. The dealer inspected everything and guaranteed everything. I have made a few mods to it but it didn't need anything.

It has one thing that is being corrected. It has an electric awning, the first year they made them. Neither arm can be adjusted to drop one corner for rain run off. I contacted Dometic and they are shipping an adjustable arm to my dealer so he can change it, AT NO COST TO ME! An 8 year old awning and they are standing behind their product. I will never hesitate to buy from FR or Dometic again.

2002 Flagstaff TT...bought it from the little old lady who just "drove it around the block." HA...it has been to CA and TX when she owned it, but they kept it in a metal bldg whenever not in use, so we bought it summer of 2014, slept in it in the driveway and fixing to fulltime in it end of next summer...Have the mods done, just need to buy all new tires & hit the road!!

My last trailer, which I sold to a friend so we would have room for our new Flagstaff was a 1991 Road Ranger Monterey 18DT. We used it for about 10 years. Rarely had hookups and when we did we were at the beach so the A/C never got used. Ran fridge and water heater on propane always. Furnace was a little noisy but worked well. Never a leak in the rain. Only thing I replaced was the converter because that was missing when we bought the trailer. So why did we sell it? The gaucho bed was the worst to sleep on and the trailer was a little cramped for 3 people and 2 dogs. The Microlite 21DS is almost 4 feet longer, has a real queen matress on a Murphy bed and the dinette slides out. Wonderful roomy floor space.

got a friend that we camp with he drives a 1972 Winnebago 32' that he has taken care
and is in amazing shape for its age and this guy just pulls in to a spot puts in park hooks up water and electric and says ok it's set up let the fun begin
we have never bought new the wildcat we have now was only used twice before we bought it previous owner took the big hit on it. as we got to meet him through the dealer we bought it from (mother in-law had to have her own bedroom and the sofa/bed was not going to cut it, so they special ordered a 5ver with a front and rear bedroom

Several years ago we looked for a used TT,,, most every we saw was trash !!!
Some smelled so bad,,, we could not stay in them long enough to look @ !!!
So we bought new,,, had it for about 7 years,,, when we traded it in on our Sunseeker it was like or maybe better than new !!!

2009 SOB Heartland Sundance.
first owner - went bankrupt

trailer repossessed

second owner bought it at auction - took it to the ocean side and set it up.
one month later he said he and the guys were going to the NASCAR races in New Hampshire.
His wife said thats nice then you enjoy yourself.
when he got back, she was out.

couple divorced

Trailer put up for sale to fund the building of a foundation in his new house.
As we were discussing price he's recieved text from his new girlfriend that the variance to the property was GREEN GREEN GREEN.
So happy he knocked a grand off his asking price.

He did say to be aware that the trailer was cursed though.

So we've added and modified the heck out of it.

New oil rubbed bronze taps in the kitchen and bathroom,
new drains
30 amp Surge Protection hard wired in place
Docking mirror, LED light strips on the nose.
Inside LED lights throughout
LED light added above the landing gear switch
New water heater GAS ELECTRIC going in...
New Tires
New Outdoor Shower assembly
Poli Coat the trailer next spring to redo the finish
Spare tire and bracket added
New black and grey water tank cyclone vent covers x 3 to be added next spring
New fold down shelf in the kitchen
2 12 volt charger plug ins added - one in the bunk part - one in the kitchen
Door push bars and return springs.
Out door BBQ quick disconnect line added to the new gas regualtor and new tank gauges added.
Seams stripped and recaulked
Roof washed and resealed

and the ever essential dual flag pole holders added to the ladder for the NASCAR fans

And my loving wife asks me what I did all summer... while she and I were at the lake.
I actually had some of the men in the park stop - look at me and say I had to stop because I was giving their wives bad ideas of what they could be doing to their trailers.

ah but next summer I can relax and have a drink or two around the fire and not have to worry about things needing to be done.

We had a new roof put on last year, had a few very minor leaks
The roof look a pretty worn when we bought the trailer, had a
patch clear across the middle section about 2ft wide. The dealer
said it was nothing, I said drop the price which he did and we
agreed to meet in the middle. He knock 8k off what they were
asking and I dickered him down another grand so we paid 16k
plus tax for a 5 year old trailer.

So we camped in it for 2 years an I told the DW it was time to
replace the roof which we did. We also installed all new LED
marker and tail lights, new roof vents and put in a newer surge
protector. Shoot now we have a new trailer
We have a really good repair shop, Brazels RV only a few miles
from the house, they really take care of you and work to keep
the price down but the quality high

Wow really nice trailer, I did the same surge protector
that you have and put mine just about the same place.
I do what to put the Dexter E-Z Flex Heavy Duty
Rubber Equalizer Suspension System this winter
and air bags for my truck, that should brake the bank

My in-laws had a house fire in 1988. Their insurance company bought them a TT to stay in while the house was repaired. They parked it in their backyard and it hasn't moved since. You can only see the top half of the tires because it's sunk into the ground.

Don't have any pictures of it but they only use it for storage now.

Well I guess it's the old story, if you didn't pay for it with your
hard earned money why keep it up

Of course maybe the insurance company to them they had to
keep it and could not sell it for a number of years, one never
knows what the thinking was
