Unable to remove sway in TH

Here is my problem. I am unable to eliminate the sway in my 2021 Palomino Puma TSS29 toy hauler.

I have a 2021 RZR Turbo S4 (approx. 1900lbs.) Using a 2017 GMC 2500HD Crew Cab to pull it. With a 14k Equalizer hitch.

I've measured truck changed washers, measured trailer, backed RZR in, figured TW over and over!

What am I doing wrong?

Is the trailer a bad design with to much garage behind the axels?

Should it have been made with 3 axles?
CCC states 3582 lbs. and I am under that.

Are those listed weights as loaded?

I think no. So what is your total loaded weight and total tongue weight?

Listed weights. I am unable to drive to a scale to find out because of the sway.

I have tried to do everything the instructions stated with Equalizer hitch. Paid a dealership to do it. That was a waste.

What tire pressure are you using on your 2500?

Unable ro remove sway in TH

How many washers are in place on the hitch to help spread the weight to the front TV axle and trailer axles?

Sway is caused by too much weight being too far back resulting in the tongue weight being less than 10% of the overall weight of the trailer. So the first thing to do is to do what you can to get the weight shifted forward. If your fresh water tank is forward of the axles, add water to the tank.

IIRC, with the Equal-i-zer 4 point WDH there 2 ways to increase sway control - 1) change the number of washers and 2) raise the L brackets on the trailer’s A frame.

If you can’t get it dialed in, you might need to go to a Hensley or Propride hitch but that would be the last resort because they are very expensive. If you live in the midwest and tow with higher winds, the expense of the Hensley or Propride would be more justifiable.

Good luck.

As itat said, you have to get the weight so you have at least 10% of your trailer weight on the tongue.

You have a 7800# trailer and you are putting a 1900# load mostly behind the axels so it is a pretty safe bet you don’t have nearly enough tongue weight. You need to put a lot of stuff in the front of the trailer to make up for that imbalance.

I had the same problem with a lightweight bumper pull toy hauler with my Goldwing Trike at 1200#. The only way to get it to tow decent was to put about 200# of stuff in the front storage compartment. It still went into sway a couple of time (thank you Ford AntiSway for stopping it). The only good solution was to go to a 5th wheel toy hauler which was heavy enough to keep proper balance with a unit that heavy. Your toy is even heavier than mine was so you may well be out of luck with this particular trailer/toy combination.

Measure your tongue weight. Between your wife's bathroom scale and stuff in your garage you can to this easily. Trailer should be loaded and tongue weight should be at least 10% of the total.

As others have said add tongue weight.

Curious what speed does the sway develop?

Get the weight distribution right, and get a propride. I had one on my trailer and it was worth every penny to me.

Check out a ProPride hitch at ProPridehitch.com . It is expensive, but, IMHO, is the best anti-sway hitch on the market.

I'm a big Hensley fan, but agree with those who say to get the weights in line first. Hensley eliminates sway (ProPride is also reputed to do that; however I have no personal experience with that hitch), but toy haulers tend to be inherently unstable; so best to do what you can to stabilize the rig before adding an expensive, heavy hitch. Good luck!

Propride is the improved Hensley.

A little over 60mph. Trailer rides fine w/o the RZR so I know it's the problem.

I thought about it. Read reviews and info. Just hoping to get Equalizer dialed in.
