adding expansion tank

I am thinking of installing an expansion tank to my water supply. Do I need a check valve to stop the pressure bleeding off, or does the pump have one built in? Any thoughts appreciated.

The tank only need be installed somewhere after the water pump in the system. It's sort of like an air tank on a compressed air system in a way. See this diagram which may help you visualize it. There is also this page which is very good at explaining RV water systems.

NWJEEPER. The water everywhere article covers everything I wondered about, and then some. It is definitely worth saving for future use. Many thanks!
