I'm an RV newbie and probably not your typical RV'er since I bought mine to live in stationary to escape the hell that is apartment life. Never was much of a camper throughout my life. I moved in the first of August. I apologize in advance if my questions reflect my inexperience.
It's a 2006 Rockwood LE 29FBSRV Toy Hauler. While not in particularly bad shape for her age, it's obvious that in her 14 years, she hasn't really had somebody love her. Case in point, the water heater.
After watching quite a few youtube videos on flushing out the WH with a wand, replacing the anode rod and element (the electric has never worked for me), I tackled it yesterday. It went relatively well. It really needed it. There was much more sediment than I expected but eventually got all of it flushed out. And I'm so happy to be able to finally use shore power to heat my water but two strange side effects have me a bit baffled.
Note that I didn't do anything but clean the WH, replace the anode rod and element. No new filters, no cleaning of aerators, no new regulator...nothing. Also, I did not use anything other than water to flush.
- I now have much better water pressure (or flow?) throughout the rig, both hot and cold. What about cleaning the tank would cause my water pressure to increase? Especially the cold water.
- I have what seems to be a common "problem" of warm water coming out of the cold tap for the first few seconds. This didn't happen prior to cleaning the WH. My tank only has one winterizing valve to disconnect the WH from the water supply, not three (see photo...the top "T" does not have a valve). The valve, which is on the bottom near the cold intake, is open as it has always been. Could the increase in pressure cause this?
Not problems, per se, but just curious as to why.
