Air compressor

How long should I run 40 psi air through my water lines to clear them?

I always did it until air stopped coming out of the faucets.

I usually stop when the water does.

Why even use air if antifreeze replaces any water anyway?

Does it replace it or just mix with it?

Using the water pump under the sink so I believe it would replace any water when I open the faucets all over the camper till runs pink. My tech guy where we bought unit has said he doesn't use air.

AND it's not his camper either. Why would he care if he left a little water in your filter or where ever.
Our tech, who has been very good to us, said all we needed to do was blow it out too. But where we live it does get down to 0* during the winter so I blow it out then run antifreeze.

Good Luck

Using antifreeze is a time tested way to winterize. Our dealer winterizes well over 100 units a year as well and they only use anti-freeze. I would have thought they could save a lot of $$ by just using compressed air. I asked one of the guys why they used antifreeze instead of air and he said, "I don't know, that's just what we do and it works."

Bottom line, either method is acceptable as long as you do it correctly. And some people do both just for good measure.

This might be the best thread ever in the history of FRF.

Made my day, anyway.

Yup... compressed air (from an oil-free compressor @ ~35 PSI, followed by Propylene Glycol (until the pink stuff comes out) is very quick and cheap insurance.

It's a "belt and suspenders" kind of double protection.

My thought is that the air displaces most of the water so that it doesn't dilute the antifreeze.

Lots of people use air only; lots of people use AF only; lot of people use both.

This is also my thinking and my operating procedure............. but I won't get cut up in a knife fight contesting my method!

I Just winterized my Puma XLT for the first time (I'm a newbie) using the air method and I must say it went well. It's not as intimidating as I thought, follow all the steps on your check list and job done.
