X2. My first trip as a newbie we camped for a week with the valve open .a weeks worth of liquids runs right out. A weeks worth of paper will plug everything up. I now run mine up to about 2/3s then dump. Every other day or so. Never had a black tank problem since.

One point not mentioned, is that your system is a chemical toilet, so the solids and paper are 'breaking up' while they sit in the chemical. This makes it easier to get a good clean dump.

(Clean? - OMG)

Not exactly. The black tank is just a tank, not even a septic tank, just a reservoir. Same thing for the grey tank.

If you add chemicals or probiotics/bacteria to digest and liquefy the waste then you would be correct but some don't add anything, some use the Geo Method (water softener and detergent).

So, why do I need to add chemical?

Didn't you answer this already in your post #22?

I think whatever method you choose the goal is to break it up so it has an easier time draining out.

I do it mostly for odor control.
