Bug parts in grey water tank? Really?
Ok, we are *brand new* rookies, bought a Coachmen Clipper 17fq. Taking it out for the first time next weekend. Brought it to the house to de-winterize and get it ready.
Everything seems to work great. But one thing seemed odd. After following a checklist I found here on de-winterizing (which worked great, thanks!), I opened the grey water tank (which only had the fresh water I put into the system to flush), I noticed lots of insect parts in the bucket as I was draining it. After a while, the bug parts got fewer and fewer, but I wonder how they got into the brand new grey tank..? Is this a red flag of a larger problem? Anything to worry about? No sign of bug parts anywhere else, and everything seems to work great. Thoughts? Suggestions?

Most likely, they found a way into the tank looking for warmth / food / water. Make sure the drains are all closed (showers / sinks ) along with the cap on the dump side when you're not using it.

They could also get in the vent pipe. They should have a cap on them but I don't think they have bug screens.

Between the point when the tank was manufactured and then later installed in your trailer, the tank was most likely stored outside...possibly for a very long time. My guess would be that the bugs entered during this time.
There is a place near me that manufactures tanks, and all their inventory is stored outside year round.

I find whole flies when I dump my BW tank, (es, I use a clear elbow when dumping to see that it is clean after rinsing)

Should not be a major problem, Insects can enter via the vents and will in most cases die. They should not be able to enter the RV as there are traps or other devices to keep them out.
