Camco winterizing kit Cherokee 23VFK

Hi all. We have a 2018 Cherokee 23VFK. Last fall added the Camco winterizing kit (I had installed the same kit on my 2015 Coleman without issue).
This year the pump would “jack” and sputter on hot or cold at all faucets and sometimes the pump would just turn at low rpm and not shut off on its own. I would have to open a faucet full to get it to rev up and then finally turn off.
I looked at the Shurflo specs and it states it requires 1/2” interior diameter connections (if memory serves anyways).
I removed the Camco kit and the inner diameter where the T section of the valve is only appears to be about 1/4”.
Instantly the pump was working normally after I removed the kit.
Has anyone else experience this and if so can you recommend a different valve that does have the same restriction that apparently my pump hates?
Thankfully the pump is easy to access so if I have to manually disconnect the filter from the pump and use the Camco cap and hose it isn’t the end of the world. But I did like the convenience of just swinging the valve.

Thanks in advance.
