City water connection
Hello
I am just curious if others have this happen.
We have a 2011 Sunseeker 3120DS.
When we disconnect from the city water connection, water shoots out like there is still pressure in the system.
This just started to occur. We usually just have a little drop or dribble of water when we unscrew the fresh water hose.
Thank you,
Randy

This would, by no means, be your final solution, but does running water from the kitchen sink after turning the spigot off release the pressure somewhat before you disconnect the hose?
BTW, do you disconnect from the spigot or from the camper first?

If there is a screen washer in the city water connection remove it and look inside the connection to see a pressure valve that may not be fully sealing off. A toothpick or small screw driver can be used to reposition the valve. it should be evident once you see the valve. Should look something like this

As bubbles mentioned, it is likely your back flow valve. Occasionally crud/insects can get in the water hose and then get stuck in the valve preventing from closing. You can use a flash light to look in and check this.

By chance, is your water pump turned on?

The purpose of the check valve is to not allow water to come out the connection when the water pump is used. All cold water plumbing (excluding black tank flush plumbing which is self contained and isolated from all other plumbing) is connected together and the check valve at the city water location is to prevent an open port for water to exit when the water pump is used in lieu of city water. It serves the same function as the water pump internal check valve which is supposed to prevent city water pressure from entering the holding tank while using shore (city) water input. If the check valve is not seating correctly and no faucets are open when city water is disconnected residual cold water plumbing water will flow back out till pressure is equalized.

There IS pressure in the system the second you connect to city water. Unless you relieve that pressure by opening a faucet -- or disconnecting the hose * -- the pressure remains. * As noted there should be a check valve to keep trailer water from going into the hose.
Try this home experiment with your garden hose with a nozzle on the end. Turn the water on, let it run, the close the nozzle. Turn the faucet off. Want to guess what happens when you disconnect the hose? Yep, same thing here.

Every camper we have ever owned does this unless we leave a faucet on inside to relieve pressure. There can also be some pressure in the hose..

Hello
We disconnect from the spigot first. I thought about turning on the kitchen faucet to relieve pressure, but that was after we had already disconnected.
We never have had this happen until this year.
Thank you.

Hello Bubbles.
I was wondering if the valve was the culprit in this.
Thank you for the reply.
I will try this tomorrow.
Thanks again

Hello Oaklevel.
Normally when we disconnect the water it does leak a little. The last couple of times though it has been more forceful.
I will still check the valve tomorrow as suggested by other members.
Thank you for your reply.
