Dometic 310 toilet fresh water leak?

It's hard to describe this in the title but the toilet seems to have a new leak. Previously, the rinse water flowed immediately when stepping on the pedal. Now, it seems like it has to fill up the inner passages before flowing out the rim. I also hear a drip after flushing but don't see a leak anywhere.

It's a Dometic 310. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what changed, and a resolution?

did you get the 310 with the attached fresh-water spray hose and the soft close seat? Was yours a replacement toilet like mine?

Mine is a replacement for a defective 300. I paid a bit extra to upgrade. It has the soft-close seat but not a spray hose.

I contemplated adding one myself (actually prepared to do so) but can't easily get to the supply hose from the outside kitchen and the stub of flexible hose is too short to manipulate easily.

mine has a short 1 sec delay before the water starts filling the bowl, but I hear nothing dripping afterwards.

Did you do the install yourself?

You can loosen the two floor bolts and rotate the bowl to get at the water hose more easily.

I did it myself. It's worked fine for months.

The dripping you hear is just water draining out of the rim jets into the bowl.

Upon observation, you are correct. I didn't see the little rivulets running down the bowl.

It didn't do that before. The water stayed in the rim jets (I think?) and started spraying immediately when I stepped on the pedal. Now there's a delay as they fill before spraying.

What could be different? Trailer level? It's pretty level, now, and still does it.

Can you send a picture of the sprayer and its attachment at the supply hose?

OK... I did not pay attention to the actual connection to the 310 while installing... I thought there was just a T connector attaching the hose... turns out more complicated then that.

The first pic is pointing at the underside top of the toilet, from below where the water inlet tubing ( smaller) and the sprayer (larger) are connected.

The second pic is the connection to the wall water supply line and the smaller line that goes to the top of the tank.

i'm thinking the pedal controls the fitting closest to the wall water port, which then allows water to flow up to the top of the seat area where both hoses attach and then puts it into the rim jets and the sprayer. It takes a second from the pedal closure to fill the rim jets... I suppose dependent somewhat on water pressure.

You know I only briefly tried it out in the driveway... I think the sprayer only works with the pedal pushed down. It was hot the day I installed and I was just glad I got the install done and did not go any further then just checking for leaks.

I just tore this all apart. I was running without a water filter and the screen in that fitting plugged almost solid with sediment from over the years. I just about had to fill the toilet with the shower hose.

where did the sediment come from mostly do you think? Your home water hose/fresh water tank OR campground hookups?

I found that Dometic sells the sprayer as an add-on kit that fits any of their toilets. The principal feature seems to be a vacuum breaker. I'm not sure how it fits into the system.

It's rather pricey.

Edit: I found the instructions for installing the kit. The vacuum breaker with the sprayer replaces the stock vacuum. It makes sense that there would be one.

If I were to add-on I might think about a T into the supply line water ( water always available)... and a less expensive hose then that. I think mine off amazon was $10 more than one without a sprayer already attached. I know it was a no-brainer when I ordered it in the spring.

I screwed the hose holder into my shower wall above but next to the toilet so it would be easy to grab and use and if it should leak would drip into the shower basin.

I have no plans to pay silly money. A T with a kitchen sprayer was my thinking, as well. In fact, I already have the sprayer prepped. In the process I hoped to add a 1/4 turn stop before everything else.

If I can't get to where the toilet supply T's off the PEX so I can remove the Oetinger clamp, I'll abandon that idea. I fear cutting into the toilet supply, then failing to get it all reconnected properly. That would be a disaster.

If I can remove the Oetinger clamp I can work on the very short stub easily, then put it back in place. Putting on a new clamp wouldn't be hard. Getting the old one off first will be very hard due to poor access.

For you, and others contemplating a new toilet, if you order the toilet with the spray hose the additional cost is only $10 or so. Or at least that was the case a couple years ago when we upgraded from a 310 to a 320

When we upgraded to a 320 I also installed a Bidet Toilet Seat. While I was at it I added that stop. Makes it convenient to turn off the water so I can bring the Bidet in when the temps are freezing.

You can pull the toilet valve off to get better access, it just snaps in place from the back. Or better yet, just remove the toilet, two bolts and 1 water connection then yu can easily get at the back.

If you have a Dremel tool you can use a cut off disk and easily cut the clamp on the notched side of the pinch. In that location the clamp is double thick but you only need to cut the top portion to disconnect the clamp. It is about a 15 second cut job. No twisting no fuss no muss and no worry about cutting into the PEX.
