Dometic 310 toilet - where does the spring go?

I took my toilet valve out to replace it, and a spring fell out along with the valve. Does anyone know where the spring in the picture is supposed to go?

The instructions didnít mention a spring, nor have any of the many videos I have watched. Unfortunately, there is not space behind the toilet for me to get down there and really look.

I tried adding it to the valve, as pictured, but I cannot get the valve to install with it on there. That being the case, I have no idea where that spring is supposed to go.

Never mind - my old one was cracked in half and fell apart when it came out. The spring is built into the original part, so in my case, having a part left over is ok.

Good info. Thanks for the follow-up!
