Dometic 320 Ball/Seal Issue

My buddy bought a new Dometic 320 toilet. It arrived today and the seal/ball are offset. Has anyone seen this issue before?

Just open the "ball" and feel to make sure the seal is seated properly all the way around. Pull out the seal so you can see how it installs.

I screwed mine up once. Don't ask.

Pair of rubber gloves and two Youtubes later, and it was reseated just fine.

It is seated correctly. He has removed and replaced the seal. It is not centered over the ball. He has not installed it yet. He is going to put some water in it tonight to see if it seals and call Dometic. I just thought I would inquire here to see if anyone else has seen one offset like that... Thx...

Forget the ball. When the seal is installed correctly there should be equal distance of the seal reveal all the way around the opening. I have changed a few on 2 different models (310/320) and have found this to be correct. Check with Dometic.

Ball Seal

Your instructions that came with your new 320 shows and explains how to adjust the seal correctly. I just installed a new 320, what a fantastic upgrade.

Good luck!

Yes we had the same problem. Since all toilets are 100 percent tested before leaving factory this should not happen. I complain and they replaced mine with a correctly installed seal.

When you have the new seal in the package the instructions are on it. Use those to reseat your present seal (it wobbles in the hole a bit) and keep the new one for when you need it. They do move a bit in the hole, but, ours hasn't leaked in 6 years.

The one thing that nobody has addressed is that the pivot inside the toilet may not be in the hole opposite the foot flush inside the down pipe. I have knocked mine out of whack when I cleaned the black tank out with a wand.

Good luck, Ed

I believe the seal in the package is the floor flange seal. The seal the OP is talking about is the flush ball seal. I could be wrong.

Installed a 320 in the MH about a week ago. I noticed the seal was a little off center but it has been holding water since I installed it. I Will have to check it.

I upgraded to a Dometic 320 last year. I smeared some plumbers waterproof grease on the bottom side of the gasket with the flush ball open. Water stayed in the bowl after that. I am going to re-grease it before we go camping this year.
