The top part (bowl) is porcelain. The base is the same as the 300 which is plastic. However there is no creaking like the 300. Totally silent which is so nice! It also has a slightly different shape and seems to be more comfortable.

That’s great. I’m going to call them and upgrade. A person shouldn’t have to listen to that noise!!

Good luck. I've never heard of them replacing a toilet due to noise.

Had one of the recalled 300 toilets, guess I'm in the club too. Took the free replacement 300 instead of the upgrade option for $75.

This was in the 2019 that’s in your signature? Amazing. Mine was in a 2018 Puma. They told me they had fixed the issue when I called... apparently they either didn’t or they still have bad ones in stock. They should have trashed all the old ones.
As I mentioned in a post above I opted for the upgrade to the 310.

Anyway glad you were able to get it fixed.

Yes it was in my 2019. I did however purchase it in November of 2018.

The normal smell isn’t what this thread is about. Some of the model 300 Dometic toilets where defective and would collect some “liquid” and never pass it down to the black tank. Then after a while you’d end up with a strong urine smell that would never go away.
Dometic realized the issue and fixed it but offered a replacement to those with the bad toilets.

I cant find the answer on how to start a new discussion and apologize for not being able to help answer your question...I accidently left the HTR switch on in my 2018 FR 26DBH....what has likely happened? I havent had a chance to fill the fresh tank to see if it heats or not?

Do you have heated tanks? (for cooler weather)
Usually a switch marked similar is for heated tanks.(fresh/waste)
Can you post a photo of the switch?
It would not have hurt anything if you left it on.
The heated tanks are thermostaticly controlled and won't even come on unless under 40°, even with the switch on.

We have a 2018 Windjammer and the killer urine odor hit us days after the 1yr Rockwood warranty expired. Thanks to the forum I found the issue, what was causing it and that Dometic warranty is 2yrs. I ran out and removed the MDL 300 toilet to find the trapped urine that had driven us out of the camper. I will try to get some pic's attached to show where it gets trapped.

The first phone rep at Dometic, Marly I think, blew me off but when I ask for a supervisor she dumped me over to their "sanitation" division. There the nicest young lady ever, Hedi, acknowledged the problem and had requested a replacement for me in minutes......

PS: attached the pic of where the urine gets trapped - between interior and exterior of toilet. Be CAREFUL not to tip while removing the old one or you will have a nasty spill.

After our first trip with our new camper we soon started to get that smell everyone talks about. Of course I thought we did not clean out the black water tank enough. The dealer said so too when I mentioned it to the during our 30 day check-up to correct anything we found wrong.

Just completed the fix. It was easy and stinky. I just did it in the yard by the camper. After a thorough cleaning I applied silicone to the gasket that leaks. We have one more trip next month. If the problem returns I will upgrade to the 310. $209 on Amazon. The leaking started during the first trip so if my fix did not work we should know sooner then later.

This is our second and last camper. I learned everything not to do with the first one. That said we never had issues with the black water tank before so I could not understand what I was doing wrong.

Glad I subscribed to the forum.

Well personally I wouldn’t have tried to fix it. If you call them directly they will send you either another model 300 for free or a 310 for $50. Shipping is free.
That happened to ours and I got the 310 for $50. Shipped to my door.

I have a 2019 Salem 27REI with the same issue on the 300 model toilet. Smell of urine drives me insane. I have an incredibly sensitive nose. I emailed Dometic and they will send me a new toilet for free or upgraded to 310 for $50 and 310 with slow close wood seat for $75. My issue is, our toilet is mounted in the corner of our bathroom and I don't know how to measure if the 310 will fit in the same spot. Can someone please help me??? The 300 needs 8" and the 310 needs 10" but with the way it is sat and angled, I don't know how in the world to measure for the 310 as no dimensions show the width of the far back narrow area on the toilet and once I pay for the upgrade, there are no refunds. Please give me your wisdom and guide me through my ignorance and naiveté!

My problem is the toilet is not against the wall like the one you posted. It's set caddy corner in the bathroom with uneven edges on each side of the wall. I don't know how to measure for it to be sure the 310 will fit. Please see pics of the layout.
