Don't put it all on the manufacturers.

Consumers are the ones demanding cheaper products.

I just dealt with the Dometic 300 issue. Waited on hold for over an hour, to be told I had to go through a service center, despite the fact I'll do the install myself.

I ended up calling RV Wholesalers, where I bought the trailer. They were very helpful. A new 310 should be delivered Friday at a cost of $75, the incremental cost of an upgrade. They even went as far as having it drop-shipped to my home from Walmart because they didn't have one available immediately.

Summary: don't bother waiting on hold with Dometic. Start with your RV dealer. Fortunately for me, RV Wholesalers was happy to work it out over the phone. I can't say if other dealers will.

Better than nothing- I remember at one point they were sending out complete replacements for the 300's.

Yea. So now I need to decide to do it now or wait till spring. I already winterized so my lines are full of pink stuff.

Anyone have any experience with the install that might know how much of a project it is and if I need to drain the lines again? Asking for a friend. Haha

I've never winterized my trailer but I can't see how that would be necessary. The supply to the toilet is a plastic threaded connection you can take off with your hand. That's where the pink stuff would be. The repair should result in the toilet itself being completely dry. There would be no reason to introduce water except to pressure test, which you can do when you're ready to flush it all.

That sounds logical. I’ll have to think about it. I realize it’s not pressurized but I wondering if gravity will just pour it put.

Its two bolts and a threaded connection for the water line. You would need to depressurize the lines before unscrewing the connection from the toilet but most folks already do that while they winterize anyway.

No need to add anymore antifreeze. The toilet does not come with anything on the seal in the box anyway.

Hello all-

Just noticed water on the floor around the toilet base on my 2019 Shockwave T27RQDX. Reading through this thread, I gather the problem is with the model 300, and not the 310 that I have?

My leak is not where the two halves are joined together. After using the flush valve to fill the bowl, I get a small stream of water coming out from where the foot pedal is mounted to the base. I assume a simple flush valve replacement will fix this issue??

I am trying to avoid a dealer visit. Extended warranty has a deductible and really don't want my unit sitting down there for weeks.

You are correct on all accounts.

We bought our 2019 Cherokee 274VFK in July of 2018. Due to some family issues we didn't get to use it very much until this year. All was good for a while, after a couple of weeks on the road we got the awful smell. We wanted relief (ours was out of the two year warranty) I didn't bother checking with Dometic. The only place I could find a replacement was Camping World. Picked up and installed a 310. I think we will be vey happy with it.

Mch5jdm - have you used the repair kit? If so, how did it go and have you tested it yet. We have the same problem as everyone else with our Dometic 300. Unfortunately we do not have enough space to upgrade to the 310, so I am trying to deicide if we want to try to fix the one we have, replace it with a new 300 that has been redesigned to fix the problem (maybe), or just switch it out for a totally different toilet.

rtgreen, I'm in same boat at you. No problem with 300 yet, but if it does go bad, I've heard the 310 goes back just far enough in my trailer that you can't keep lid open. Don't feel like cutting into cabinet door behind it to make the room either, that will look terrible.

I did some more research and found this repair video on youtube . Since we can't upgrade and it sounds like Dometic is just sending out a repair kit anyway, I think we will try this and see if it takes care of it.

I swapped my 300 out for a 310. When I fist put it in the lid interfered with the linen closet door in my Roo 19. I heard of another person modifying the flange so it could rotate a bit. I elongated the slots in the flange by about 1/4" and the problem was solved. 10 minutes extra for the mod. Took about an hour all in to get the 310 installed.

Dometic 300 issue on a 2020 gPro G19FD

Just got my used 2020 Geo Pro G19FD about 5 weeks ago and the lingering sewer smell led me to this thread. It is absolutely unbelievable that Forest River/Rockwood was still installing a defective toilet in their units as late as 2020.

I saw some mounting/spacing issues mentioned in this thread, does anyone know for sure if the 310 or 320 will fit this model camper without modification?

Also, when people are saying they had to go to the "dealer" for help, can that be "any" dealer or does it have to be an authorized Forest River dealer? I bought my used gPro from a non-Forest River dealer.

I hope I can at least still get the free repair kit mentioned. I spent a lot of money on this camper and multiple mods for more solar and an Andersen hitch and don't want to spend another $200 or so on a new toilet.

Thanks for your help.

Dometic 300 repair kit needed

I just got off the phone with Dometic after holding for 90 minutes and they say there is no "Repair Kit" available for the bad 300 Series toilets and never has been. Does anyone know that kit # so that I can order it or what parts are included? Is it just the 2 seals in the video?

The Rep said that if it is "in warranty" the only option is to take it to a dealer and they will repair/replace it at no charge or if "out of warranty" the ONLY option is to buy a new toilet.

Has anyone ever actually received one of the repair kits?

Thanks for your help.
