Mine just came off the line aug 8 and it has the 300. Maybe they fixed the problem because we have 8 days use and no smell yet.

My 2014 233s was manufactured around April, but only got used but a couple times until later in August where we did a couple longer trips (3-5 days), one full week trip, and a ten day trip in September.

I noticed the smell ever so slightly in my trailer as I was constantly using a light bleach solution and Clorox wipes to clean it so the smell was not horrible or irritating but it was there. Emailed Dometic before our trip to Oregon (the ten day trip) and requested a 320, which was the elongated version. I emailed back and forth a couple times using professional, cordial, and persuasive communication and got offered 50% off the upgrade price of 176, so $88 bucks. Then was offered an even sweeter deal as I must have made an impression. When I returned home, it was delivered and I just installed it today. What a difference in comfort and noise the 320 is!

Hi praise and regards to Dometic sanitation division's customer service!

Big problem - it doesn't fit!

Well Dometic was kind enough to send us a new toilet. They replaced our model 300 with the model 310 which is the porcelain one.

TROUBLE IS the 300 wants 8.5" from center of closet flange to wall. Ours is barely that. However the 310 wants 10" and there is no way that is fitting in our washroom. Moving the wall is NOT an option.....

So folks best to measure before talking to Dometic and getting a toilet that won't go in the space.

I will call them tomorrow and see what they suggest and how we go from here.

called the number and had to leave a message. Fingers crossed that I get a call back.....

Smile 310 won't fit where 300 was... UPDATE

I called Dometic this morning. They are shipping a re-invented 300 to replace the smelly 300. They haven't told me what to do with the 310 yet. Expect they will want it shipped back.

Overall I feel Dometic has been very good to get this problem fixed.

Just remember to measure your space so you don't end up with a unit that won't go in where the old one came out.

NOTE our trailer is a Rockwood 2703WS....

That's a bummer! Luckily the iddy bitty bathroom in my Roo had a lot of extra room to install my model 320.

I also had a redesigned 300 shipped. Hope they fixed the problem with the new design!

Cfernandz: A BIG thank you for the telephone number. Works and Dometic is sending model 300 replacement toilet. They have revised the toilet mechanism to eliminate the odor. No longer sending the upgrade 310 model to replace the model 300. Again, THANK YOU!

I just purchased the solar vent. The problem is the fan will run continously, even when RV is not in use. Other than installing a wired switch, with wires across roof to a convenient switch location, have you found any cure for the continously operating fan? NOT feasible to place a hood over the solar panel, every time you park vehicle in storage. Thanks

I'm very happy with how Dometic has resolved this issue for me!

I have a 2014 Shamrock 23ikss. After only the first night of camping, my wife and I noticed the foul odor from the bathroom. A quick search online brought me to this forum thread. I contacted Dometic on a Monday. On Thursday, I had a new series 300 toilet at my doorstep, apparently they fixed the seal so that the problem shouldn't occur again. I carefully removed my original 300 toilet from my camper. Outside, from the rear of the unit, I could see liquid sewage that had collected on the inside. Then as I unboxed the new 300, I was very disappointed to find that it was damaged. The two plastic parts at the top of the bowl of toilet were split. It appears they are glued and snapped together and one of the two screws in the rear of the unit had been stripped.

I immediately contacted Dometic on the phone (Friday morning) . They were very understanding and agreed to send me another new unit, this time a series 310.

When I saw QuietTimes post above regarding the size difference between the two models I became concerned that the 310 may not work for me. It just arrived this afternoon (Tuesday) and.... it fits! I am very pleased with the fit finish and flush of the series 310. Thank you Dometic.

To reiterate - the 310 fits fine in a 23ikss.

So for those with the "revised" 300 can you see a difference between the old 300 and the revised 300?

Installed solar exhaust fan. Had immediate loud vibration inside RV. Could not quiet unit. Placed in trash can and ate the $32.00 cost. I would not recommend the unit, due to the noise issue.

Thanks for this post, I had the "stinky" problem with the 300 model. Called the company and a new 310 on the way. Great service from the company.

Went in camper for the first time in a few weeks and talk about a funky bathroom. Thought I stuck my head in a public urinal. Talked to Heidi and should have the upgraded 300 middle of next week. Thanks

I'm having the same problem with my Dometic 300 toilet. I contacted Dometic and was told to contact the manufacturer too. Can you give me Diane's phone number or email too! I would really like to take care of this odor problem before the winter. Thanks for your help with this.
