Drain looking thing on bottom of camper

There is what appears to be a drain on the bottom of our camper. When I open the outlet valve to the hot water it started dripping.

Can someone help me understand what it does and why it’s leaking? Should it be capped or plugged?

normally an uncapped line like that is an overflow drain line. the fresh water tank will have an overflow like this. i don't understand what you mean when you say you open the outlet valve to the water heater. do you mean the temperature and pressure safety relief valve? in some cases owners have plumbed a drain line from this valve down to under the rv in order to keep water from seeping from the valve into the water heater enclosure. this might also be what you have shown. take a good look at the relief valve and see if the discharge port is open or if it has a drain tube connected to it.

These are the types of valves they were

Not sure my replies are posting properly, sorry if there are duplicate replies

I got around to looking further into this finally and it was the low point drain valve. It’s a push valve and it was not pushed in all the way.

Looks like this:

The valve that I had mentioned that I opened was the hot water tank one, top one in this picture:

Thanks for your help Chickdoe
