Depends on the value of the ring and when did you last empty it. 5 gallon buckets one at a time if it's really valuable.

The bucket idea is a good one, also keep in mind the ring might stay in the tank when you drain it and you may have to leave the dump valve open and flush the tank to rinse it out and I wouldn’t be surprised if you have to use one of the through the toilet flush wands to get it out of there.

How full is the black tank?
As mentioned, 5 gallon buckets to dump into and then check each time.
If it stays in the tank after emptying, an inexpensive (<$20) endoscope for a cell phone will tell you where it is. Some even come with hooks to snare it.

OP logged off 24 minutes after initiating the thread (probably about a Dometic toilet) and hasn't logged back on.

How would that happen? Loose ring maybe and wiping too hard? Weird!
Edit: why Dometic?

Doesn't say Dometic. Op said domestic. Might have meant Dometic but said domestic. Gotta take them at their word right.
Call a plumber and open the wallet.
