External Holding Tank Sensors

I've been looking at several different systems that use external sensors for reading (especially) the black tank levels. All the sensors I've looked at require you to install a proprietary monitor along with it.

Does anyone make an external sensor that works with your existing monitor?

I think there would be a great demand for these sensors. Ideally, you could just slap them on the outside of the tank, connect the existing wires and go.

I already know why most systems don't do this, so don't bother explaining. I'm just interested in ANY external sensor that would work. Maybe it is a development opportunity?

LevelGuard Tank Monitor 100 Switch

Looks like LevelGuard Tank Monitor 100 Switch [Z160TSRK] might just work?! I sent an email to the manufacturer. I'll post the response when I get it.
