First time hooking water up

I have a question about the water hookups. We just bought our Rockwood travel trailer and we are taking it this weekend for the first time. I bought:

25 foot drinking water hose
Adjustable water pressure regulator
Camco in line water filter
90 degree adapter
Y adapter to hook second hose to faucet

My question is this: what order is the best way to hook all this up. I have seen the regulator hooked to the RV side and some hooked to the faucet. What is the ideal order to hook this stuff up? My thought is this:

90 adapter to Trailer
Inline water filter
Hose
Regulator
Y connector- regulator on one side
Faucet

Note: I will have a garden hose with sprayer hooked to the other side of the Y connector.

Is this the best way?

The only other way I would suggest is with the inline filter between the hose and the regulator. Depending upon how much your inline filter weighs, it can be a strain on the inlet fitting going into the trailer.

I do wye, regulator, hose, filter, and short hose to 90.

It's just the little blue Camco one.

You're good then. The 90 helps relieve the strain from the hose too.

The most important thing is to make sure you use your regulator. I was at a camp in northern California and the pressure, believe it or not, was 110#.

Your sequence looks right. One suggestion. When you return home put the filter in your home fridge ( or freezer if it is drained) until next time. It will grow some not nice stuff if left closed up in a compartment in a Hot camper.

I'd like to see the filter right after the regulator.
That way the hose has nothing but filtered water in it. (may be helpful for storage)

Also, maybe slightly off topic but you mentioned hooking another hose to the wye with a sprayer attachment. Make sure you have campground permission for whatever you decide to do with that hose. Many do not allow additional hoses that would promote washing the camper or vehicles at the campsite. Just a word of caution.

First thing I do is spray the water faucet down with lysol. to clean whatever nasties were left by the previous site occupant.

Starting at the faucet, here's my connection order:

Y adapter
pressure regulator
water filter
drinking hose
90 degree elbow
camper

Use Timfromma as well. Protects water hose and filter. Used to put reg at rv until I camped site that the pressure was so high from well supplied water almost ruptured hose. Talked to cg operator, he admitted he forgot to drop pressure after a lot of weekenders had left cg. At the time, I carried only one water hose, now two. Another thing that I think helps is using 5/8 inch hose rather than half inch a lot of places carry.

A bit off topic, but when breaking camp I suggest starting the habit of dismantling and packing away the water equipment starting at the campground spigot. During my first year with my trailer, I lost 2 fancy "Y" connectors complete with regulator and separate hose spigot that I had built just because I would start by dealing with my fresh water hose, get distracted, and eventually drive off with some shiny brass bling on a campground water pipe.

Never thought of that, I sure will. Not sure what the outside shower PSI will be to rinse our poodle off if he gets nasty. He a full size and need a lot of water pressure to rinse him.

I wouldn't think washing a dog would be a problem.

It's when folks use the campground water supply for washing vehicles, water fights with the kiddos and such is where I've seen the campground staff come around and make them unhook the 2nd hose.

I've never seen anyone complain about outside shower usage as they (campground) likely believe (like you mentioned) probably not enough pressure/flow to do much wasting with it. And you are not likely going to be rinsing off the vehicles with it either.

After unhitching I hit the auto-level button and then water. Hit the faucet with a Clorox wipe, add Y connector. Then filter, regulator, hose, as the 90 elbow stays on the trailer.

I would locate the pressure regulator at the hose bib. If you have a tank flush, especially one of those rotating types, you can blow it to pieces with high water pressure. So, put it before the Y. Good Camping ........... Swampy

My current Rockwood has a filter inside the trailer. In the past, when using an external filter, I hooked the regulator after the filter. The problem with hooking up the regulator after the filter is the regulator regulates the water pressure down to 40 PSI, then the filter drops it down some more. By hooking up the filter first, the water pressure is dropped from the line pressure, then the regulator regulates the pressure down to 40 PSI. Hooked up this way, you get a full 40 PSI delivered to the RV.

When breaking camp, always drop hose and elbow at trailer first. Then go to spigot then work back towards trailer. This drains most of water out of everything as I roll up hose.
