Flagstaff Water Filter and Winterizing

Just wanted to get some ideas on what to do before it is time to winterize. We camp through the winter but I have always come home from winter camping and drained the tanks and blow out the system. The new trailer has the on board filter. Instructions say to remove this and discard it before winterizing. I don't want to buy a water filter every time we camp in the winter. Could I take it out and stick it in a bag or something and bring it inside? Also, where is a good place to purchase a replacement?

If you have winterized, then you will not need the filter again this year and can discard it. It's typical to get a new one each year. If you will de-winterizing and use again soon, you can throw it in a clean bag and keep inside. Don't keep for too long however as mold and bacteria can quickly develop. If determined to keep and reuse it, put it in the freezer. Replacements can be had from Camping World or via Amazon. Make note of brand and model before discarding or if not marked take a picture and measure the dimensions carefully.
