Fresh water leak by bath and kitchen -found it

Class C Motorhome with slide. Had an issue with a fresh water leak under the slide out in the kitchen area. Thought it was a leak from the sink since the water was oozing out from under the slide area where the kitchen sink is located.

So to get there, had to remove the swing out clothes hamper, remove the screws, etc. Small PITA, but obviously this thing was installed before the bathroom wall was installed, ended up on the commode. So looked under the sink area. Turned water on, no leak there.

But then we looked at the HWH, which is in the same bay area, by the clothes hamper. Leaking at the top (Hot) connection. Seems when they installed the HWH, they used the "pencil" to apply the sealant, which is a clay-like substance, as opposed to teflon tape. The sealant had deteriorated under the heat, and failed, whereas teflon would not have failed.

Other than being a "stand on your head, reaching through a small hole, awkward workspace" PITA, relatively easy fix. Just wish they had done it right the first time, as there is no measurable cost difference between the two sealants.

So if you have a leak in this area, look at the Hot Water outlet on the HWH.
