Fresh water tank issue
We are on our second season with our 2016 27rlws which we love. We have been on the road for a month & 1/2. For the second time this past week our fresh water tank fills up when we are on "city water". It does not appear to happen all at once. It happened over a period of time. Any thoughts on this subject.

Very common problem. The solution usually is.
Disconnect city water
Turn on faucet to relieve pressure.
Turn on water pump
run water for 30 seconds.
Turn off faucet and allow water pump to run until it stops
Turn off water pump
reconnect city water.
If you run the water pump when on city water, the reverse flow valve can seat incorrectly and allow water to back flow into the tank.

One more question - is it proper
When I dry camp - I fill my fresh water tank upon entrance to the camp.
When I leave and dump my black and grey water tanks - I open my fresh water valve to drain.
It sometimes takes a while to empty, so I drive off with the fresh water tank slowly draining.
Is this proper?
The DW has a fit but I don't want to just sit at the dump station until it drains.
I only have a 30 gallon fresh water tank but depending on how much water is left at the end of camping it could take a while.

I've heard that discharging anything, even water, is illegal most places, but I've always done it and have never had a problem. lol if I do ever get pulled over or otherwise called on it, I plan on pleading ignorance. It's only water...

I drain mine at the camp site down to 1/4 tank and keep that for the drive home or where ever you never know when you will need some water for an emergency flush or your radiator

I also drain mine when I remember to do it! It sloshes around and empties more completely. I've heard folks here say a ranger or police might stop you if they saw it and I can understand that. They don't know it's fresh water.
Some folks might try to be sneaky and crack the gray water on the way home or maybe it's a leaky pipe....
I do it and I takes my chances! Last trip it was raining on the way home so I was pretty confident I wouldn't get caught!

Interesting discussion. I've never drained FW tank, I guess because I'd never thought of it, but it certainly makes sense. Our boat has access panels on FW tanks that allows them to be cleaned; not so the rv, and the scuz in the filter indicates that things may be growing in there.

When leaving a campground, I usually add a cup of bleach to the freshwater tank if I know I won't be using it on the road. let it slosh around and then after my first fuel stop , I open the fresh water drain to let it empty on the way. By the time I get home it's sanitized and dry ready for the next trip. Every once in awhile I will run some if the bleach water through the lines to sanitize he tank and lines and open all release valves to empty lie points an he.
