Fresh water tank not filling completey

Campground has lost water pressure. Having fill fresh water tank. Have 2020 8326bh. Should hold 60 gal. Can only get about seven gal in it. Keep refilling but overflows after just refilling some. Sensor shows only two out of eight bars when starts to overflow. Tested fill amount by filling and flushing toilet. Thanks for any help. Vent does not appear to be stopped up.

Are you sure you are filling into the fresh water tank and not the city water? If I understand correctly, the fresh water overflow tank is where the water discharges when it stops filling?

Thank you for the quick reply. Filing the large hole with a screw off cap in the back of this rig. Says fresh water fill. Appreciate any help.

Other peculiar part is that the tube for the fill is overflowing, it is not coming out the breather hole.

Have you tried turning down the pressure at the spigot so the flow into the fill port is less? I have to fill mine at about half flow or it will puke out the fill port.

Try again, sliding a long hose as far into the filler neck as you can, and filling slowly.

I had the same problem. I tested the tank capacity using a flowmeter but didn't get past 25 gallons. I thought I was going to have to pull the underlayer and diagnose a problem with the vent or overflow lines.

Before doing that I bought a long piece of vinyl tubing and added a hose connection to make a filler hose. I was able to get it about 4 feet into the filler neck. That enemies me to put 60 gallons in the tank.

I surmise that the air vent was plugged the first time I tried and that the water flowing down the fill tube prevented air from venting back out that way. By extending the filler hose farther in, air was able to vent during filling and didn't prevent filling completely.

The trickle of water coming out of the hose is not of any pressure worth writing about. Good idea though.

Did the air vent ever clear?

Place e a piece of tubing over that vent adjacent to the fresh water fill opening and blow through it. If blocked by a slug of water, you'll know instantly. Once cleared you'll be able to fill the tank.

Then it appears either your gravity fill port hose into the tank is kinked/blocked, and/or your vent hose.

Are you trying to fill with a piece of cut off hose stuck a couple feet into the fill port or just holding your garden hose against the fill port opening?? Big difference!

Had the same problem. Took a good white hose and cut it off at about 14. Made azure the female end is attached. Slide it down into the fill hole. The female end keeps it from faking all the way down the hose. I pull it out a couple inches and screw my hose onto it. It fills great. When done, simply unscrew the hose, slide the short hose down into the hole and put the cap on. The length of hose you slide down into the fill hole goes past the where it usually needs to activate the breather. Hope that makes sense. Its made filling ours so simple and keeps your short filler hose clean and hidden away.

Camping World (and other places) sell a 3' filler hose with a hose connector and a shut off valve. It makes filling up the fresh water tank a breeze.

This is what I use. Combined with a flow totalizer I set a timer and walk away.Click image for larger version

I use a cut off washing machine hose. (They have female fittings on both ends.) You can cut one in half and have a hose for filling your tank and another for filling buckets or watering cans around the house. You can add a shut off valve from the garden dept of Wally world for a buck.

I use the filler hose as others have suggested. I can run full blast for about half the fill, then it starts to gurgle and spit back out the fill hole. I cut the volume back and it still gurgles but quits spitting it back. Your vent is probably at least partially kinked. Try lowering the volume. May be a pain but it gets the job done. I wouldn't think it would be terribly difficult to get to the vent hose and be sure that it is open. Usually not a very big hose so that in itself could be the problem.

Here is mine. I run it about half flow (never seen the need to 'Blast' water in the fresh tank) and know exactly how much I put in.

This may not apply to your RV, but on my MiniLIte 2105 (2020) I discovered I simply cannot fill the fresh water tank when the RV is hooked up to the tow vehicle. With even the slighted nose-down angle, the water just runs back. So, if I have to fill it at the campground, I put the tongue jack down with the trailer hooked up and raise it until the rv is level. Then it fills completely. The fill hose has a long horizontal run, so the RV must be level or nose up.
