Fresh water tank on board

How does one sanitize the fresh water tank and how often. I have never used it yet and it is new always hook up to city water but going to nascar race at pocon and will need to use water.

Fresh water tank on board

The sanitize ratio is 1/4 cup bleach per 15 gal. capacity.
I hook up my FW hose to RV fill connection, pour the amount of bleach I need into the hose and then connect to my water source and fill tank. Also, run faucets so lines will be sanitized. Let stand for 12-24 hours. Drain, fill and flush twice.
I usually do this in the spring and early fall. If we do not use RV for several months then I sanitize.
