It would be foolish to have a pressure regulator anywhere but the pedestal/supply source.

Not me. Even if I hook it up because I will be there a couple weeks, it stays off until you need it. And when you turn it on, it's kind of on an open system not prone to high pressure leaks.

I do but only because of how I connect my flush hose. (when at a full hook-up site)

My low point drains have 1/4 turn ball valve, garden hose fittings on them.
I connect my short flush hose to one of them and since my R/V is protected by the regulator at the pedestal, the flush hose is inadvertently as well.

But as Kris mentions, the flush is an open ended system where unless the nozzle/feed line is blocked, there really isn't much pressure, just flow.

If I flush at home where the R/V may not be connected to a water source, then no.

I use them for a lot of things.

It gives me a nice location at the R/V to connect a garden hose (for vehicle washing, dog washing, R/V washing etc.) and has allowed me on several occasions when boondocking, to pump a few gallons of my water to someone elses R/V whom had run out.

Just curious what you use the male to female adaptor for. Is that what the brass thing is on cold line?

That's just a garden hose cap, to keep road dirt out. When I snapped the photo I had removed the one on the hot line for whatever reason.

Getting somewhat off topic (but related to water pressure) they also provide for a good spot to monitor water pressure in your R/V.

When the air pocket depletes in the water heater, thermal expansion can raise regulated pressures to levels most folks would not believe if they didn’t see it. I've seen pressures over 100 PSI.

How does one restore the air pocket in the water heater?

Do you really want an air pocket in your WH?

Turn off water supply, release pressure at a faucet, open T&P valve on water tank until no water runs out, restore supply pressure. (CAUTION if HOT!)

I find while full timing here in FL for the winter I need to restore mine about every 3 weeks or I start seeing thermal expansion pressures around 100 PSI. I can always tell when it needs done as the foot pedal is hard to (initially) press when trying to fill the toilet bowl.

Thanks. The longest I've ever camped was 2 weeks, not sure when the air pocket for thermal expansion 'goes away'

When setting up I always check the water pressure at the spigot. Also, I check the 'static' pressure after the regulator to make sure the regulator is doing its job.

Do you add a pump inline to create pressure for washing when attaching a hose to the low point drain? Curious how you create enough water pressure in that line.
