Gen cutting out at 1/2 Tank

My generator wont run below 1/2 instead of 1/4 tank of fuel. Its a Onan 5500 in a 2000 georgetown 345S. Anyone know if this common?

Does it use the vehicle tank or does it have a tank of it's own?

Did you just buy that from All Valley RV? If so, it's been that way since new. It was my old one.

A great unit by the way!

My Gas Guage at 1/2 a tank is really closer to 1/4 of tank.

Exactly! And add the fact that if you don't 'drip' the last 10 gallons in when filling up, you're starting at about 4/5 tank.
