Has anyone added an electric element to your propane hot water heater?

Hi:

I have a 2010 Wildwood 26BH XLite which has a propane only Surburban HW heater. My old trailer had an electric & propane version that worked great. Since we're on a seasonal site with no electricity restrictions, I'm thinking about adding one of those electric element kits so I can cut down on my propane usage. Anyone done this and how did it turn out????

I put the Lightning Rod in mine.. I put a lighted on/off switch for it in the bathroom with a lockable switch bracket.. It works great..

Cpaulsen - I had hoped that it was gas & electric but it is gas only. I checked out the model # after we purchased it last year.

i got mine at ppl about $60.00 i think
wire a piloted switch in kitchen cabinet
easy install works great only draws a few amps which is very important when on 30 amp pole . higher amp = faster recovery ,but this low amp model works well

Installed one in my gas only water and saw a dramatic drop in propane usage. I ran a new power cable to my fuse/converter box and added another breaker just for the water heater.

Thanks for the info.
Our season is almost over for this year but I'm looking forward to improvements for next year.
