Help with city water connection

I recently replaced the Valterra city water/fresh water combo unit on my travel trailer. The system seemed to operate well at first, however after connecting the city water hose to the unit on the third occasion there is now a "Humming" noise and vibration coming from the city water intake where the water hose connects to the female intake on the unit. I'm also experiencing a few drops of water intermittently on the back side of the unit (inside the trailer). I have double checked all of the connections and they are tight, I also do not want to over tighten the connections as they are plastic. I believe there is a check valve in the city water intake and perhaps the valve is stuck? My water pump is working fine and all else seems to be in good shape. Has anybody experienced this situation?

I forgot to mention that the "humming" noise and vibration occurs when I turn an inside faucet on.

Sounds like something in the check valve assembly. I would disconnect and inspect the fitting at the check valve looking for debris, cross-threading - anything that might interfere with a tight and flush seal.

Are you using an in-line pressure regulator for your city water connection ? I've had regulators hum when running water from any faucet in the trailer.

I do have an inline pressure regulator, however yesterday I made a direct connection from the hose bib to intake fitting and I still had the hum and vibration.

When on city water connection, water pump should be off. Could be the noise. As others have said the valve may be stuck also. Is your fresh water tank filling up when on city water connection?

I've had both the hum and the leak. I also think the hum is related to the anti backflow in the inlet apparatus. I got a brass 90 degree inlet coupler to relieve strain from the weight of the hose, and that stopped the leak. Coincidentally, the humming stopped also, why I don't know as I only changed the one variable. I also have a pressure reducer in the line, right at the campground shutoff.

Cheers

I don't believe my fresh water tank is filling up, I will need to keep an eye on it.

Thanks for the reply. I will be looking into a brass fitting in the next couple of days.
