Exclamation Hep oV drain connections

So had an interesting morning. Went for a walk while my better ¾’s took her shower. As I returned noticed a lot of water under the rig and wondered😬, then as I stepped inside she was quick to have me take over mopping up the bathroom floor of water, lots of it. So to back up a few days, after her showers, not always, there would be a little water on the floor outside of the shower, I assumed it was water getting around or over the curtain. Today it was lots!. Opened access panel to look under shower where pump was and the area was flooded. First dried things out with towels and started investigation.

Found what at first I thought was a broken tail piece flange so proceeded to remove Hepo drain unit. The flange was “ broken”, as seen in photo. I assumed I would find pieces on the floor in the area. Nothing found. From there realized that during install they must have not wished to use union fitting and instead cut so unit could be slipping onto flange, loosely tighten and cross fingers. So now after 15K km it “slipped off”

I will have to purchase correct adapter and install correctly. No mobile repair was available for two weeks and all local shops stated that two weeks before open appointment, so I will return to Las cruces early and correct myself this week.

Mostly disappointing as up to now I have had no major issues and even the minor issues were understandable, easily corrected or addressed by our purchasing dealer. This seems to be a short cut or intentional installation method. Not sure how else to address this and as we are in New Mexico, not Ontario(home). Thought I would vent here. Also a notice to others with Dynamax I3FW tomcheck I tall method and address before it becomes an issue

It too bad that happened but on the bright side you will get it corrected and secure and others are advised to check their fittings for the shower.

Thanks Seadog.
Yes it will be nice to correct to my satisfaction.
I did plan to and still will change out the kitchen and bath room sink drains to Hepov drains. from what I have seen and read they work well, create more room in cabinets and less worries when traveling and winterizing. Will be easier to change them then this one under the shower due to access and room.

Chris

I was able to correct shower drain today. It would be simple correct but the limited/restricted access adds time and discomfort.😬.

Used a tail piece adapter kit and am happy with install. Added pipe insulation to water lines hoping that the insulation make using the water pump a little quieter🤞

Installed Hepvo drain unit in the kitchen sink to create some more room and limit the winterizing of p traps. Plan to do the same in the bathroom but it seems the access to plumbing lines will be a challenge.

Hope this issue is limited to few units and others can check and correct before they have failure while on the road.
