Hot Water Heater UhOh

Came back in Sunday Forgot to turn power off the WH. Tank still has waster. Plugged in to 110V cord.

Think I might have done damage?

No, as long as there is water in the tank. It would take a long time to evaporate enough water to expose the heating rod.

You should be fine as long as the water covered the element. If not a replacement element is not too expensive and readily available.

It only ran when the temp got below the lower limit of temp sensor. I know the water in our WH down at cabin is still warm after not being there for 2 weeks.

As long as there is water in the tank, it's just like at home when you go out for a weekend. You don't switch off the HW at home do you?

Should be fine if water was in it.
That said, my replacement water heater element was about $20 and the huge socket for it was about $8. Mine got run dry after dewinterizing. Looking on the bright side, I discovered that the water heats 2 to 3 times faster with gas on my water heater

I did that myself after a weekend trip. I hadn't drained the wh and there wasn't any damage. I didn't think about it and turn it off until 3 days later.
