Hot Water tank leak

My HWT leaks from the bottom only when the tank fills and begins to hear the water.....I hear a high pitch sound in the heater at this point. When filled and water is heated the leak stops. I checked for leaks in both cold water in and hot out connectors and there is none nor any leaks from any of the surrounding plumbing. I don't think there is a crack in the tank as the leak stops. By the way RV is only 1 year old so I assume the 2 year warranty will cover this repair? Thanks!

All FR divisions only provide a 1 year factory warranty except Dynamax, who provide a 2 year warranty.
You didn't provide any information on your RV nor put it in your profile.
The HW tank may have its own separate warranty from the tank manufacturer.

Thanks for the reply.....profile now updated. I have a 2019 Sunseeker 3250 LE. HWT is Attwood (typucal 6 gallon unit) and does come with a 2 year warranty.....I'll be bringing the rv to dealer tomorrow. Do you have any insight to the problem I described? Thanks.

Most water heaters are encased in Styrofoam for insulating. The leak may be higher than you think and running down the side of the tank (inside the Styrofoaml and dripping out the bottom.

Is the water heater turned off when you're filling it?

This is interesting. Please let us know what they find wrong.

Atwoods use a nylon plug, not metal. They should self-seal.

If it's a conventional heater, I'm wondering if it's the over-pressure, over-temperature valve. It's not unusual for them to drip if you've filled the system with cold water. The water expands and there's no place else for it to go but out the valve.
