I learned a lesson about antifreeze

I live in Colorado where the weather is admittedly fickle. We've had such nice weather lately this May I thought sub-freezing temps were done. I've had already un-winterized, sanitized my plumbing and have been on 2 excursions with full fw tank. Then Murphy showed up with a forecast this week of sub-freezing temps for several days and 12" of snow. I scrambled into town for some antifreeze just to discover the stuff is sold seasonally here. I struck out at 2 Wal-Mart's and Camping World, then found some at stop #4, a camper sales outfit. My lesson learned is to always keep some on hand from now on. In fact, I bought 4 gallons but only needed 2. Then my neighbor who owns an A-frame called in a panic just hours before the front arrived. Those spare jugs got him prepped. We both will be better prepared in the future.

After 80 degrees here in Salida we'll be down to 29 tonight. I also de-winterized and camped. Yesterday I drained all the water out of the HW tank, FW tank and low point drains. Hooked up my compressor and blew the lines out. Dropped what little antifreeze I had left into the drains/p-traps, turned the heat on 50 degrees and put a 60W light bulb in the only compartment that has plumbing thats not easily reached by the heater. Ugh!
