Leaking Valves on Water Heater

We own a 2016 Coachmen Freelander Micro 20 CB. One of the cheap plastic valves on the water heater is leaking. The water lines use a clamp that I cannot remove. I called Colerain about serving the unit vend they stated August was the earliest they could get me in,

Any ideas on how to replace these valves?

Thanks

Pictures would help us out tremendously. Then we could see what it is exactly that you have.

Except you are still going to have to deal with the two Oetiker PEX clamps. Any plumber would be able to help with those if you don't want to buy the clamps and crimping tool yourself. Be aware, PEX uses different size clamps that the regular nylon braided tubing does.

Exactly why I use shark bite fittings.

Is there a diverter valve available for the water heater bypass of the sharkbite type?

Yes, in brass.

I used a Dremal tool with metal cutting blade to carefully cut the band and replaced with screw type SS clamp like used in autos.

the nylon braided lines is just another way to save a buck . Bad choice of water line specifically if used for hot water out as it has a tendency to expand to much with the hot water . replace where you can . Also you can get the pex clamps over the nylon tight but doable have done it many times . always replace plastic fittings with brass , and when you can replace the braided with pex you'll be more trouble free in the long run . It's worth buying a pex crimping tool and some clamps to have on hand . jmho. edited to say go CARDS . lol

Thanks everyone for your responses. I went to my local Ace Hardware store today and Bob introduced me to Sharkbite replacement fittings. Worked perfectly. Thanks again for all your posts. Jim in Ohio

They can be a pain sometimes but still WAY better than buying special equipment and dealing with those pesky clamps! Glad it worked out for you!
