Level Sensors

I have a 2014 Heritage Glen Lite and I noticed that the level gauge for my fresh water tank is pretty far off. When it says I have 1/3 left I am actually empty. I run my pump until it cavitates then opened the drain underneath and put a bucket under it and only about a gallon came out and yet the gauge said I had 1/3 left.

Is there any way to calibrate these sensors or some other solution?

Another question, what is the proper method to fill the freshwater tank? It has a garden hose type connection and I originally filled until it came out the overflow underneath but I'm thinking that's not a good idea as pressurizing the tank could damage it?

Thanks!

The only way to tell for sure that its a sensor problem is to actually visually check the tank. The sensor may be mounted in the middle section of the tank that could be bowed down and still reads water when the pump suction and drain are at the ends of the tank indicating it is empty. just something to check. You do not have to fill your tank using full water pressure from your supply hose go a little slower filling until I get overflow is how I know the tank is full.

Tank bow I installed a "T" fitting on a friends tank drain and moved the pump situation to that location because the tank was bowed and the pump would loos suction with about 2 gallons still in the tank.

I'm not sure that any of the tank sensors last 7-years with complete accuracy. Usually, a sensor will become entangled in stuff (black) or suffer some corrosion (gray/fresh) that will affect the electronic circuit's continuity.

A workaround for filling to the proper capacity would be to monitor the fresh water flow into the tank with one of these:
