"moist wipes" safe for dumping?
Some of you may be embarrassed by toilet talk, but let's face it we all do it.
With that said, our household is addicted to the Cottonelle moist wipes. We have them in every bathroom and can't live without them. The packaging says, "breaks up after flushing". Does that mean that those are septic/dump station/trailer sewer safe?
Thank you!!!

Put one in a glass of water and give it a stir. If if does not break up right away do not use in the holding tanks. I had a problem using Cottonelle toilet paper. It does nod break up fast enough. I got a blockage in the outlet pipe. It is frustrating when the tank is full and it will not dump. Part of the problem with a holding tank is the waste is not in the tank long enough to break down.

How about using some sort of container or special waste bin for discarded wipes? Some waste bins have flip tops or openings.

We've been using Cottonelle wipes in our MoHos and S&B septic system forever, with no issues.
Wouldn't know about any other brand, but these really do break down.

We use the RiteAid equivalent (don't cause embarassing allergic reactions) and haven't had a problem. We dump the black tank frequently - like prior to leaving a full hook-up site, regardless of how long we've been there, and don't usually go more than 2 days before we dump at a municpal park or whatever dump site if we haven't been at a full hook-up CG.

We keep the medicated wipes in a small steel pop top trash can.
The can's bucket has a small plastic bag in it.
Under the bag; but in the bucket is a Vanilla Car Freshener.
BIG label on the can to "dispose of wipes in the can".
I REALLY don't need a clog and those wipes can make the standard tank indicator system even more worthless than it is. With the long hooded probes of Horst system, there is a good chance a wipe will drape over a probe and be with you for a VERY long time.

We use the wipes but never flush them into our black tank. That is the one system on the Wildcat I don't want to have a problem with. The only thing that goes into our black tank is body waste and RV toilet paper. We also use RV black tank chemicals to break down the waste. Did I mention that the black tank is the one system I don't want to have a problem with.

I would think if you have a macerator to grind up the poop it would be diffrent - I know that the flushable wipes do not break down like certain toilet paper does.
I would put a bunch of walmart bag's near the toilet since those are free and use the wipes to clean and put them in the Walmart bag and either put outside or take to the dumpster instead of dumping in the tank.
Like stated above I wouldnt want to have a problem with the black tank cause it could be a nasty or shiaty job

to put those THINGS down the toilet
as mentioned above
anytime we can avoid
a possible problem
especially with that part of our unit
might be best

This is about the BEST way to test ANYTHING going ino the black-tank. About the only thing that you can't put too much of into the black tank is water! Even when we are boondocking, and I need to haul black water away with a tote, we still dump the dish-pans down the toilet to ensure that there's enough water. (That also extends the life of our woefully small gray tank.)
If it doesn't break-up well (and quickly), I'd follow Herk's suggestion, and have a separate trash can for the wipes.

I was thinking of getting a diaper genie to put the wipes in. They have a self-sealing bag inside and are made for keeping the odor of diapers down. Just an idea.

How are there not "trailer safe" moist wipes? I guess I know what niche business I need to start.

when the flapper shuts on the toilet
especially the older type
we don't want anyTHING getting stuck there
such as regular toilet paper
or anyTHING else such as wipes
for very best results
only use RV toilet paper

wipes flushable
I'll be honest and say we never used our Keystone Outback 25rss camper's toilet for #2. We would just use the campground restrooms. I mean they come by and clean them every couple of hours. Its just about 75 yards from our favorite campsite and its always clean. I also used the campground showers because being 6'4" I didn't fit in the Outback's shower very well. Maybe we are weird but we just use the campground facilities for when nature calls. Plus its a mess i don't have to deal with.

Must agree with not flushing moist wipes--in the camper or at home! Several years ago had repeated sewar back-ups in the basement (old village sewar system in old house). Was told by plumbers to never flush the wipes, even the ones that say flushable! After having the front yard dug up twice, we learned to 'be careful what you flush'! I also used a covered trash can (plastic bag lined) in the camper bathroom.

My brother suggested using a product called diaper genie. I don't have kids, and as far as I know have never been in the same room as one of these, but if it can contain baby smells, it ought to work.

We use moist wipes all the time. We dump any time the contents gauge shows more than 75% and haven't had a problem in two seasons so far. We also use the "extra water" feature on the flush pedal most times.

Which brand wipes do you use? Are they actually "flushable" or just baby wipes?

I prefer using my own TT. At least I know who has been in there and what they're doing. I've seen some real nasty bathrooms and showers.
