New Dometic toilet? or fix the old

I'm still a newbie i have been camping now just over a year. I have a 31rqls puma. One of the problems i have had in the last year has been with my toilet 300. I read about this a year ago and called dometic. They sent me a good faith package that had all the seals i needed to rebuild it. Since i was the second owner they would not pay for it and sent the good faith gaskets postage due but i digress. Any how I'm getting water in the floor around the base of the toilet when my family is with me it's kinda of a lot of water. I'm not getting a ton of odor but some. Anyway i watched a you tube video of changing all gaskets and followed instructions to the best of my ability. It leaked the next day. So with that being said i see a lengthy thread about the 300 is there a fix I'm to the point of getting a new one but don't want a 300. I was reading that a 310 seem to be same foot print. Has anyone made this change or fixed the 300. Does the 310 take same water valve? I had read where one can caulk can help but i was a permanent answer not a few month one. Thanks for all help.

The permanent answer is a 310 or 320(if it fits)

Fixing the Dometic 300 won't change how it makes one feel like they're sitting on a Home Depot "Homer Bucket" with a cheap plastic seat.

My 300 is now where it belongs, in a far away landfill and the 310 is like night and day.

If you have the room, go with the 320 as it has an elongated bowl (More "user friendly" for us guys. I didn't have the room and passed on remodeling the bathroom to make the 320 fit.

Also, aside from the porcelain bowl the 310/320's come with seats that don't wake up the entire family if one forgets to lower them quietly. Both have slow close seats and are built like the ones at home-----solid.

I just started getting water on floor with my original 3 year old 300 Dometic. You have to see where water is coming from, I traced it to my flush valve. Not a difficult repair from what I've seen on video. I bought two on Amazon (not Dometic), but haven't gotten around to installing yet, probably won't till Spring. Camper is winterized.

I think the 310 has same water valve. Unfortunately the 310 extends rearwards just a little more, and the cabinet behind toilet will not allow seat/lid to open all the way and stay up, so stuck with 300 for now.

Water

Yeah when I opened mine up took the two bigger pieces apart I had a water line in the inside bowl part and had a water line running from inside down toilet. The valve is not bad to change done it a couple of times I have to have a stub screw driver and a mirror itís not bad though

whichever you buy, the 310 or 320, get one with the Spray Attachment. It is only about $10 more and DW will love you being able to spray off the brown stuff after using the toilet.

The 310 is only about 1/2 inch more in the back, and there is a little wiggle room at the base you can play with... Amazon the 310... you can send it back if it does not fit, but I suggest it will. Took me about 20 minutes to change out my 300.

Attached are the Installation Instructions for all three toilets, 300, 310 and 320. At the bottom left are the Rough In Dimensions for all three.

The dimensions need to be compared to Diagram #2 above the specifications on the left side of the paper. For the center of the toilet drain you can use the toilet bolts back to the wall behind the toilet.
Good Luck

Gonna try the 310

I found them somewhat on sale. Can one tell the height of them by serial number I have to choose between 13 3/4 and 18 inches. My family and I are all short but worried the 13.75 would feel like sitting in the floor I have a picture of my serial number but will be Monday before I can measure it.

I just measured the 310 I installed this spring... measures 18" to the top of the seat when it is down, lid is another 3/4 inch taller

sit on a foot stool if you think 13" would be good for your short family...

I paid $214 PLUS tax when I ordered late March 2021 for the model 310 with the hand sprayer...

Funny you said that! Maybe I'm better centered, or put more water in toilet before the big splash, but I've never had streaks in 3 years, lol. Maybe I need more Mexican food in my diet.

Dont worry Kris.........without that $10 sprayer you can always wipe it down by hand if it ever happens to you........I wouldn't spend that huge sum either if I were you

The short ones are made for installs where the floor itself is raised. If your existing toilet isn't sitting on a platform or step, get the taller one.

I discovered that if you take a piece of toilet paper, maybe 12-18 inches, and fold it in a V and pace it in the tank most of the brown will land on it and slide on down with no skid marks.

I will tell you the same thing I told Kris, you can always clean it off by hand if your method fails you, because a $10 bill is more than you are willing to part with to ease the cleanup in the toilet.
